What is the Weather like in Las Vegas in April?

What is the Weather like in Las Vegas in April?

April starts off warm and ends up hot as the Mojave spring turns to full-blown summer. The scorching heat is still a way off but hot spells can see temps nudge 100°F (37°C) most years see some days well into the ’90s and average highs well into the ’80s (high ’20’s). It’s not ground meltingly hot but it’s definitely “strip off and take to the pool with an icy drink” hot!

The nights are still long and with clear skies temps still struggle to make it through the night. The sun rises with temps hovering just over 50°F (10°C) most days. Rainy days become less frequent and most days are just pure sun and clear skies.

What is it Like Visiting Las Vegas in April?

April weather is very pleasant for the majority of the month, the Highs are not too high most of the time, and the lows are nowhere near the previous few months. This gives April a really good balance.

The City really starts to feel the heat when heatwaves pass through but nowhere near the seriously roasting summer temps. with nighttime temps only falling into the high ’50’s you may be forgiven for thinking the nights will not feel cold. But in reality, the sharp shift from day to night means you will still need a sweater or light jacket in the evening. But the cold winter chills are gone.

Rain also largely dries up as the month goes on. There are rarely more than 3 rainy days the whole month and these often only produce light drizzle with little accumulation.

The predominant weather is clear blue skies, warm temps, and plenty of Sun. It is one of the best months to experience everything Las Vegas has to offer, before the real summer heat sets in!

What are Crowds like in April?

Visitor numbers dwindle a little from the mini peak in March but still expect a solid 3.5million visitors to visit the City. Convention numbers are on their way down and the city is nowhere near capacity. Of course, Vegas is never quiet and even this lull before the summer storm sees Vegas streets and casinos packed.

Hotel Prices in April

The reduced Convention and slightly subdued visitor numbers make April a prime time to bag some hotel bargains. Promotions are run to try and drive in would-be visitors and overall prices are pretty subdued.

Will it Rain in Las Vegas in April?

Rain is really infrequent in April. The spring and early summer are some of the driest months as the summer heat has not started producing localized weather patterns but the winter weather systems push through much less frequently.

April is the first month where getting any rainy days is a surprise or bad luck, there are more often than not strings of days where the weather is cloud-free and sunny day after day. While overcast days often happen for parts of the day, most days get some sun, and the clouds produce rain much less often.

If you come for a few days in April you WILL get some pool days at a minimum, guaranteed!

Will the Pools be open in April?

Mandalay Bay Beach

Yes, the pools are fully open and pool parties are in full swing. The daytime temps mean pool decks will be busy and relaxing by the pool now takes over as the number one daytime attraction in Vegas!

In fact, the pools are SO open, we are going to retire this question for the upcoming months!

What is there to do in Las Vegas in April?

April is really the perfect Vegas month. Mainly dry clear and warm there is really nothing in vegas that cannot be enjoyed during April. As the rest of the country slowly thaws from winter Vegas is fast heating up.

On hot days heading out to Red Rock Canyon or the Valley of fire for a hike will require caution, suncream, and lots of water, it’s not usually so hot to be dangerous, watch out if the needle starts getting into the ’90s though!

The Pools start coming into their own as spring moves to summer. Long days relaxing by the pool, drink in hand is a top (in)activity. As such Cabanas and day beds start selling out and prices rise but you can still find bargains if you look hard enough.

Evenings are now warm enough that rooftop bars and outdoor drinking locations are in full swing and are fun lively nightspots. Observations decks, Ziplines, and outdoor attractions are all in full swing and you can begin planning trips out to the big national parks like Zion and the Grand Canyon as the winter snows begin to melt.

Really as far as April goes nothing is off-limits and Vegas is fully open for Business!
