What is the Go City Las Vegas Pass?

The Go City Las Vegas Pass is an All-Inclusive attraction pass offering you the chance to experience as many of the available attractions as you can manage from the available list within a certain timescale. 2,3,4 or 5 consecutive days.

The Las Vegas version of the Go Pass also has the added benefit of allowing you to visit any one of 8 “premium” attractions per card when you buy a 3-day, 4-day, or 5-day card. These premium attractions are all really high-quality attractions; however, we feel some are better quality and value than the others and it’s obviously a shame you only get one of these. We will have an in-depth look at the best and worst attractions later on.

What is the Las Vegas Explorer Pass?

Another option, instead of the All-inclusive option, is the Explorer pass. In short, you purchase a number of attractions, as opposed to days, and visit them at your leisure over a 30-day period. How much does the Go City Las Vegas Pass Cost?

Each pass is a fairly significant outlay; however, the price per day drops the more days you buy. This relieves a bit of the pressure to try and cram too much into each day.

The only exception is the 2-day pass, where the price per day is less than a 3-day pass. However, this is because the 2 Day pass does not include Premium Attractions.

How Long is the Pass Valid for and Can You Cancel?

Covid-19 has injected a huge amount of uncertainty and fear into Travel. We feel Go City has done the best it can to remedy this situation as much as possible!

The Go City Passes used to be valid for a single year after purchase. However, due to the uncertainty surrounding the Pandemic, people really didn’t know when they were going to be able to re-book their trips. To help with this Go City has extended its validity period to 2 years from the date of purchase.

This only really helped out with people who had already bought a Pass but had their trips postponed. People who were yet to buy obviously held off and we think you were right to do so. A pass is only really something you buy when you know you are going somewhere. However, if you have a trip coming up and are considering a Pass, it may be causing you concern that things may flair up again and you need to postpone, so having the 2-year validity date helps ease those fears!

They have also increased the Cancellation period up to 90 days. This means if you buy less than three months before your trip and something changes and you cannot travel you can get a quibble-free refund, no questions asked. They really have done everything possible to keep the Pass relevant and workable for people Visiting the City.

How does it Work?

The Las Vegas GO pass is a digital pass. It is emailed to you after ordering and you then either use the pass directly from your phone (See Image right) or you can print it out and use it that way. Either way, it is a QR Barcode that is scanned at the attractions allowing you entry to the attractions.

The Pass is activated on the first day you use it and then you have the number of days you purchased to enjoy as many attractions as you like from the list. These are consecutive Calendar days, not 24-hour periods. So make sure you activate it early on your first day or you will lose that portion of the day prior to activating.

As some of the attractions require pre-booking it’s important to read the details of how to book your attractions before visiting to ensure you get to do the activities you choose. We have handily marked any that require pre-booking.

Is the Go City Las Vegas Pass Right for Me?

Vegas is a very diverse city and many very different people visit for many different reasons. A large number simply come to party, drink, and gamble. And that is fine, but it’s unlikely these people are going to get much value out of an Attraction Pass.

However, as you are reading this, and have got this far, this is probably not you. You are probably interested in visiting attractions and making good use of your time while in Vegas. So an attraction Pass may be the right choice for you.

The Las Vegas GO Pass is by nature designed to be used a lot. It is fairly steep on the price front and as such you need to visit a lot of attractions to get the value from it. If you are just considering taking in a few attractions at a more leisurely pace may be the Explorer pass would be more suited? Here you select a number of attractions you wish to visit and then have 30 days to visit those attractions at your leisure.

The 2-day pass offers pretty good value and you can easily cram enough into two days to make it well worth the outlay. The 3,4 and 5-Day Pass are really only great value if one of the 4 Premium Attractions is very attractive to you. Basically, take a look below at our descriptions of the 5 Premium attractions, and if one Jumps out at you then you are probably going to find great value in the Go Pass. I’m not sure a Pass Sounds Right for Me!

We know the pass is not for everyone, and while we do believe for most people, if the attractions are appealing a pass is a great idea, for some, they just don’t like the feeling of being tied to something. So while the Passes are not for everyone, most people do like saving money!

Vegas is a city where everything can be gotten cheaper, where getting a deal is all part of the experience. There are loads of ways to visit attractions for less while visiting Vegas. We feel the attraction passes offer some of the best savings, but there are other options. Read of full guide on Saving Money in Las Vegas.

How do We Test?

We make sure we try the Passes and the Attractions in person. We visit the destinations, try out the passes, and see exactly how they work and what is both good and bad about the passes AND the attractions. We travel in a way we expect other people to travel as well. In Vegas, we spend time by the pool, time in the casinos, time eating incredible food, and time visiting attractions. We try and find some time to sleep but that is fairly optional!

How are things Post Covid? Well, we have that covered too, we headed back to Vegas in March 2022 to check out the Pass and see how the City is recovering from the Pandemic. Spoiler, it’s recovering really really well!

Attractions

The pass is ALL about attractions, if the attractions do not appeal there is really no point in getting the pass. While we often find some of the least appealing attractions for us, end up being our favorites, if the roster of things to do doesn’t get you going, you should probably skip the pass.

With this in mind let’s take a look at the best of the line-up so you can see if the pass is worth it for you. If by the end of this, you are super excited about all the things you can see and do with the pass, we promise you are going to have an awesome time using it!

Premium Attractions:

When Buying a 3-Day, 4-Day, or 5-Day Pass You are able to choose one Premium attraction from the following but Remember it’s ONE premium Attraction per PASS.

Full-Day Grand Canyon National Park Tour – $169

One of the most popular attractions for Visitors to Vegas is a trip to the Grand Canyon. However, most people end up at the West Rim. This is much closer to Vegas and has a very touristy feel. However, the actual canyon at this viewing spot is poor in relation to the fantastic South Rim.

With the Las Vegas GO Pass, you get the opportunity to travel to the South Rim and see the absolute best of the canyon. Here you will see it at its widest and deepest, and most spectacular. Many leave the west rim a little underwhelmed, as the canyon is not what they had imagined from all the photos and films they have seen. That is because all those were shot at the South Rim. This part of the Canyon really will take your breath away!

So why do most go to the West Rim? Well, the South Rim is an awfully long way. This trip has a 5-hour coach journey each way! This makes for an awfully long day. While this is broken up with stops, it’s still going to be a grueling trek by the end. We wish we could say it will be fine but 10+ hours on a coach is going to be tough for anyone! Is it worth it? Oh yes, it’s worth it, but only if the Grand Canyon is really high on your list and then only if you can afford a FULL day out of your trip to see it. If you are not 100% determined to see the Grand Canyon in all its glory, then this isn’t for you. There are also other options to see the south rim that are not as grueling, such as an overnight stop close to the Canyon or a flight out to it. Or if you just want a taster the West Rim is still a very impressive place.

These Coach tours are not our favorite so we tend to suggest seeing the canyon a different way and choosing one of the other Premium Attractions. But if seeing the Canyon is a lifetime dream, and a coach trip is your only option, this is a very high-value item, and $119 is 60+% of the 3 Day pass price!

There is also now an option to visit Bryce Canyon, another amazing National Park, and the Journey is not quite as long as the Grand Canyon, so there is more time in the park and less on the bus! This also gives you the bonus of visiting Zion Canyon as well, 2 for 1 and both utterly stunning!

Las Vegas Helicopter Tour – Night Flight ($154) Pre-Book

A really fantastic option for an experience of a lifetime. Seeing Vegas at night from the Air is an unforgettable experience. The strip is an awesome sight at night, but from the air, it takes on a whole new level of spectacular. You will have seen Ariel footage in films, and with this option, you get to fulfill that vision as you fly low, taking all the incredible visual delights the City has to offer.

The obvious downside is that if you have a severe fear of flying or even heights, then you are going to want to give this a wide berth. But for everyone else, this could be the experience of a lifetime! And unlike the South Rim Tour, it’s not going to take a full day of your trip (and your Pass!)

We love this option and feel it is easily the highest-rated and most popular choice of premium attraction. There really is nothing better than soaring over Vegas at night! Check out our video below!

Cirque Du Soleil – KA ($102)

Our favorite Cirque Show and really welcome addition to the Pass. KA is a mind-blowing show with a heavy oriental and martial arts theme. The Entire Set moves and shifts on a huge hydraulic platform as the Stars journey through an epic lifetime adventure of Love, Betrayal war, and triumph.

It really is spectacular and something everyone visiting Vegas should see. Incredible stunts, costumes, music, and drama.

Cirque Du Soleil – MAD APPLE ($88)

This is Cirque’s newest show, and it’s very fitting that they have located it in New York, New York Casino, as the show is entirely centered around the Big Apple. So expect all the highlights of America’s brashest City.

Incredible Circus feats and dance acts all set to an Iconic New York York-inspired score, it’s one of Cirque’s best shows to date and well worth getting to see. However, it’s at the cheaper end of the premium attractions, so has adds less value to he pass than the others.

Ultimate Gourmet Dine-Around: A Self-Guided Downtown Foodie Adventure! ($125)

This is a new attraction on the Pass, and we are going to be honest, we have not managed to check this one out yet. But it is intriguing, and we have been hearing the buzz about these tours for a while.

For $125, we are not sure these are going to be amazing value, but on the pass, it might be worth a shot. You basically get to visit 3 restaurants, each providing 3 dishes (appetizer size) for you to try. That’s $13 a dish, so if these are all higher-end dining experiences, that’s pretty good, but honestly, we can usually find a restaurant ourselves, so not sure if we need a tour. And remember, this is downtown, so it’s not going to be the fancy, glitzy strip establishments. From reviews and reports, you can expect:

• Carson Kitchen – Gourmet Burgers
• 7th & Carson – Modern American
• Eureka! – Eureka! Discover American Craft

But these can and do change. As we said, we are intrigued, but with SO much food on offer, we are not sure we would spend 2-3 hours downtown just eating!

Standard Attractions:

With all the passes you can visit as many of the following attractions within the set number of days you have purchased. The List of available attractions is far larger than we could ever feature in this post, but these are a selection of our favorites and that we feel are the best value.

High Roller Observation Wheel – Daytime Ticket – Open ($35.80)

The High Roller is really a fantastic attraction and something everyone should do in Vegas. The Highlight of the HighRoller for us is the Open Bar; unfortunately, this is no longer an option due to Social Distancing, but the View from one of the world’s tallest observation wheels is still incredible. Read more about the Wheel here. The Day Price is included in the Pass, but you can pay the difference and upgrade to the nighttime experience, which is quite a bit better.

The Mob Museum – Open ($34.95)

A great little museum featuring the history of organized crime in the USA. Vegas was a big mob city back in the Day. It’s the perfect place for a museum of this type. Not your usual heavy museum. One of Las Vegas’s Best Museums.

The Stratosphere Observation Deck – Open ($26.95)

We love the Stratosphere observation deck and consider it one of Vegas’s must-do activities, so having it on a pass really helps. Unfortunately, none of the rides are included on the pass, but still the skip the line entry is a nice plus, and you can pay extra for the rides when up there, should you be so brave!

The View from up top is quite unlike any other in Vegas and gives a great perspective down the strip, but also out over the vast Las Vegas valley with the stunning Spring Mountains rearing up in the distance!

Currently, you can also get 50% off the Skyjump when using the pass, just in case you want to throw yourself off the top!

Madame Tussaud’s – Open – $36.99

While we enjoy a good Madame Tussauds, the truth is a lot of them are not exactly that good, mentioning no names (<Cough> New <Cough> York <Cough>). The Vegas Location however, is actually one of our favorites! While London is our hands-down winner and the original, the Vegas edition really hits the right note of the City. It’s fun, young, and full of hangover references. It is super touristy, but if you are just looking for a fun break from drinking or gambling, it really is a hoot, with a ton of awesome Selfie opportunities.

Big Bus Tour – Open -$62

Get out and see Vegas from the open-top deck of the Big Bus Tours! These tours are very touristy, but if this is your first time in Vegas it is a great way to check out the strip. It is a Hop On Hop Off Bus, but the truth is they do not work very well as transport; they are fairly infrequent and a slow means of getting around. Treat them more like a tour, but definitely hop on and off a couple of times and they are a great way to get to grips with the layout of Vegas.

The view from the open-air top deck is pretty awesome, but be prepared to sock it in as the bus will spend a lot of time in traffic! The bottom line, if you need to get somewhere fast, don’t use the Big Bus HOHO, but if you are just sightseeing it’s great!

Real Bodies Exhibit – Open ($39.95)

Certainly, this exhibit only appeals to a certain type of person, but if that is you, this exhibit is incredibly fascinating. We really do recommend this to anyone with a curious mind and a strong stomach. Remember, these are REAL bodies of deceased people!

It is a very strange sensation looking directly into the eyes of a real deceased person, but it is also fascinating and hugely informative. We headed to the Exhibit hosted at the Horseshoe Hotel and Casino (previously known as Bally’s)

Hoover Dam Tour – Pre-Book – Open ($65)

While probably not on your list if you chose the South Rim Grand Canyon tour, as you will have stopped here on that excursion. If you chose one of the others or are on a two-day card, then this is a great option. The Hoover Dam is a must-see in Vegas and it’s well worth visiting. The only issue is it’s a 5-6 hour trip, which, while well worth it, will limit the number of other attractions you could visit that day.

Eiffel Tower Experience at Paris Las Vegas ($30)

We love getting up high, and the Eiffel Tower gives yet another opportunity to get up high and see the city from another angle. The Experience is more than just an observation deck though, as you are taken through a history of France before riding the glass elevator to the top.

Area 15 –  Illuminarium Experiences ($29)

Area 15 is a new sprawling attraction that has recently opened in Vegas. Filled with wild and varied interactive and technological attractions and art installations and experiences. One of these is the very impressive Illuminarium. Essentially this is a large projections screen, like a cinema, only the projections are all around you allowing you to feel like you are entering the actual space.

There are various experiences included, such as Space, an Africa Safari, or even taking a drink in Tokoyo! It’s a really cool and unique experience.

There are many different experiences at Area 15, but for now, only the Illuminarium is included.

Vegas Rockstar Club Tour – Pre-Book – ($99.00)

A fantastic night on the tiles. After pre-drinks, you are chauffeured around in a party bus to some of the best nightclubs in the world, let alone Vegas. This really is one for the party animals, and it’s sure to be a wild night. Great if you don’t really know where you want to go as you will visit a few different clubs. Also, you will likely be in a group so if you are alone or a couple or a small group, you should hopefully pick up a few new friends! This includes booze on the Party bus but not in the clubs. Club drinks are really pricey, so make sure you pre-load and take advantage of the party bus!

We checked out this tour on our last trip to Vegas here…it got pretty messy, as the party bus host definitely was not short with the measures!

The lineup is changeable, but we have seen Voodoo Lounge, Fondation Room, On The Record, and AZILO Ultra Lounge all appear on the tour.

Rockstar Pool Party Tour – Pre-Book – $89.00

A chance to check out some of the hottest pool parties in town. This can be as wild or as chilled as you like. It’s a great way to have a good look at some of the pools outside of your hotel. While you are transported around checking out the parties. You can either party hard or if last night was rough spend time chilling in the sun.

These two rockstar tours are horrendously over-priced, and many guests do not feel they get great value from them; however, when used on the Pass they are a total bargain, the tours feel practically free and you get a good amount of free drinks and access to some of the best Pool Parties and Clubs in town!

Is the Las Vegas Pass Good Value?

If you take at face value, all the “gate” prices listed, then the Pass is clearly exceptional value. You can potentially save an absolute fortune. However, the “Gate” Price can be misleading as we explain below. First here is a quick breakdown of easily achievable savings using a 3-day Pass:

Of Course, these are incredible figures. However, in Vegas, nothing needs to cost what it’s meant to. There are always savings to be had and costs to be cut. So really, you could easily save at least part of that saving without purchasing a pass. But that would mean quite a bit of work hunting around and searching out all the best deals. With a Las Vegas GO Pass, it’s really very simple to achieve very large savings with minimal effort.

It is not all about cost either. It’s very clear there are large savings to be made but the additional benefits of using a pass all help add hidden value to the GO pass.

Planning

Knowing what attractions you would like to visit helps greatly in planning what you will do and where you will go. It’s amazing how many people rock up in Las Vegas with no real idea of what to do. Having the pass gives you a real plan of action and something to base your planning around.

Budgeting

The fact the pass is one simple fee really helps with budgeting. it can be very hard to know how much you will spend on any trip but especially so in Vegas where everyone seems to be trying to get money out of you in one way or another. Having your entire attraction budget nailed down to one fixed price is quite a reassuring thing.

Less Hassle

As we mentioned you could save part of the total savings by hunting around and getting as many deals as possible. after all, Vegas is the home of the cut-price and coupon savings. Almost any price can be lowered by one saving or another. But that’s quite a chore. You would also have multiple tickets and coupons etc. With the Go pass, it’s one quick online purchase and you have all your tickets in one place as a hand QR Barcode ready to scan.

Well, almost it should be noted that some attractions require pre-booking. You can’t expect to just show up the morning of your south rim tour and just hop on. these things need to be planned. But it greatly reduces the workload. Just remember to read all the Detail about each attraction you wish to visit!

Inspiration

A pass can really help you understand what is on offer and available while in Vegas. Simply looking at the list of attractions can easily give you ideas for attractions that you really didn’t know existed. While of course, you don’t need to purchase a pass to use it for inspiration, you can just look at it online and use that as your guide. We still think it’s worth mentioning.

On their own maybe the following is not enough to recommend a Go Pass but when you consider the savings as well as the advantages it’s a pretty fantastic deal In our opinion.

See More, Pay Less

In Reality, the pass does not actually save people THAT much money. Our Suggested Itinerary above is not something someone without a Pass would ever really consider. However having the pass really does let you get out and see the BEST of the City, while only paying a limited amount of money. It can really be the Holy Grail of paying less and seeing more! On trips, before we found the pass we penny-pinched and really did very little but wandered around the City.

With the Pass we hit everything! There is no longer a cost element to consider and you simply throw yourself headfirst into the experience. For this reason, we love the Pass!

What We don’t like!

We also query quite a few of the listed prices for some attractions. These are the worst-case prices and in a lot of cases in Vegas, they could be had for a lot less. But the pass still represents good value if you get use out of it.

It’s a shame that the pass has to be used on consecutive days. The option to have pool days/days where you don’t use the pass is a real bonus on some passes. But all Vegas passes work this way apart from the Explorer pass.

It is also worth noting that a number of different shows are included on the pass. One limitation of this is you may only visit one show per day of the Pass. For us, this is not a big deal as we tend to just do the whole dinner and a show thing and don’t really want to plan too many shows in. But if you are planning on using the pass to see as many shows as possible this can be a bit of an issue for some people.

As ever with all-inclusive Attraction passes you need to be careful not to chase the pass. Trying to cram in just too much in an attempt to get maximum value! We find it best to really just focus on the Attraction you really like the sound of, if you are not sure just give it a miss and head off and do something you really want to.

Conclusion.

We really like the Go City Las Vegas Pass and think it offers really good value and ease of use to the right traveler. The Premium attractions are a great selling point of the pass assuming they are something that interests you. If not stick to a 2-day or look elsewhere. But for a fairly significant outlay, the pass enables you to greatly maximize your trip potential. There are plenty of really good high-value attractions, way more than anyone could visit in 5 days, so you will never be short of things to do.

The value of the pass cannot really be doubted even if some of the headline prices are a little above what you would pay if you shop around. You would be hard-pressed to get the sort of savings the pass offers, but we think Super savvy buyers may be able to get close, but that’s a lot of legwork.

It is hard to ignore the fact the Pass really has, on our previous trips, really opened up the City. We tried things and visited places we never bothered to when all we saw was the entry fees and some of these have been our favorite things to do. So many times we considered whether we should do A, B, or C? High Roller, Stratosphere, or the Eiffel Tower? With the pass, we did all three!

For anyone wanting a super busy action-packed break in Vegas that they are sure to remember. One where they will get to see and do everything, The Go Las Vegas Pass is pretty hard to beat!

If you’ve ever tried choosing a hotel in Las Vegas, you’ll know how overwhelming it can be. There are so many big names, bold themes, and over-the-top experiences — but what if you’re looking for something a little more relaxed?

Welcome to Park MGM, the Strip’s first smoke-free hotel and casino, and one of our new favorite stays in Vegas. This was our base for our most recent trip, and after checking into nearly every major resort in town over the years, we were excited to see how Park MGM stacks up. Spoiler: we were impressed — though it’s not without a few quirks.

Booking & Perks

We booked our stay through our travel partner Fora, and honestly, it was a great decision. Not only did we get a cheaper rate than Booking.com or Expedia, but we also enjoyed some seriously nice perks — early check-in, late checkout, and even a $100 food and beverage credit.

Even better, after we booked, the price actually dropped. Fora rebooked us at the lower rate automatically, which saved us even more.

Arrival & Check-In

We arrived late after flying in on British Airways’ Club World Suite (full review coming soon!), so our early check-in perk went unused. Still, check-in was smooth and efficient. There was no queue at all around 10 PM, and even at busier times during our stay, the front desk staff handled crowds well.

We weren’t offered a direct upgrade, but we did get a high-floor room with a pool and CityCenter view, along with a full explanation of our included perks. A solid start to the stay.

Room Review: Park MGM King Strip View

Our Standard King Room (upgraded to a Strip View) was modern, comfortable, and well-designed — if not particularly large.

At around 400 sq. ft., it’s a bit smaller than newer Vegas rooms, but the recessed bed area makes it feel more spacious. The design and decor are sleek and contemporary, with stylish artwork, dark tones, and a boutique vibe. Everything felt fresh and recently renovated.

We especially liked the bathroom, with its deep red tiles and high-end finishes. It was spotless, smelled clean, and had a sense of understated luxury.

There’s no traditional desk, but the small dining table doubles as a workspace. The minibar is minimalist — just a few snacks and waters — but honestly, we prefer that over the overpriced, motion-activated ones you find elsewhere on the Strip.

The bed was excellent: plush linens, great pillows, and perfect after a long night out in Sin City.

The only downside? The view. Even on a higher floor, the windows are small, and the outlook isn’t exactly iconic Vegas. But overall, the room struck a nice balance between comfort and value.

What We Loved About Park MGM

1. The Smoke-Free Casino

This is the standout feature — and one of the main reasons we booked. Walking through a Vegas casino and not smelling smoke is a revelation.

The air feels clean and fresh, and your clothes don’t reek after a few hours on the floor. While we know not everyone will love a smoke-free casino, for us, it made the experience so much more enjoyable.

2. The Location

Park MGM sits in a prime central spot on the Strip, right next to New York-New York and Aria. You’re close to most of Vegas’s top attractions without being swallowed by one of those mega-complexes that take 15 minutes just to exit.

Unlike Aria, which is set back in CityCenter, Park MGM opens directly onto the Strip — super convenient.

3. Compact and Easy to Navigate

One of the biggest frustrations in Vegas hotels is how long it takes to get from your room to the street. Park MGM is refreshingly compact. You can be out on Las Vegas Boulevard in under five minutes — no need for a map or hiking boots.

4. Great Dining Options

More on this below, but Park MGM punches well above its weight when it comes to food.

What We Didn’t Love

Park MGM isn’t perfect, and we did have a few nitpicks.

The biggest drawback is that it lacks that over-the-top Vegas wow factor. There’s no jaw-dropping theme, no dancing fountains, no wild decor. It feels more like a modern city hotel than a flashy resort — which can be a good or bad thing depending on what you’re looking for.

The views are also underwhelming, and the rooms, while stylish, still reflect the hotel’s older bones in their layout.

That said, compared to similar mid-range resorts, Park MGM feels far more polished and fresh. It’s a hidden gem rather than a showstopper — and we’re perfectly fine with that.

Food & Drink at Park MGM

This is where Park MGM shines.

Right at the entrance, you’ll find Eataly, a bustling Italian marketplace with multiple food counters serving everything from pizza and pasta to gelato and Aperol Spritzes. It’s casual, lively, and the perfect spot for a quick bite or a lazy lunch.

Then there’s Best Friend, Roy Choi’s Korean-Mexican fusion restaurant, which is an absolute must-try. If you’ve seen the movie Chef, you’ll know Roy Choi was the inspiration — and you can even grab one of his famous Cubanos at the nearby Chef Truck.

We also loved La La Noodle for quick, tasty Asian comfort food, and The Crack Shack for its crispy chicken sandwiches right on the Strip. Even the poolside nachos were excellent (and huge).

For fine dining, Bavette’s Steakhouse and NoMad Library are both on-site and highly rated, though we didn’t get to sample them this trip.

Pool & Amenities

Park MGM Pool

We weren’t expecting much from the pool area, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

It’s split into several smaller pools surrounded by greenery, offering both sun and shade. The vibe is relaxed, not party-heavy, and there are plenty of free loungers. Reserved daybeds and cabanas are available too and priced fairly by Vegas standards.

It’s not the most glamorous pool on the Strip, but it’s comfortable, stylish, and perfect for a mid-morning dip before heading out.

Entertainment & Things to Do

Park MGM doesn’t have a huge lineup of in-house attractions, but its location more than makes up for it.

Dolby Live, the on-site concert venue, regularly hosts big-name acts and residencies, and the On The Record nightclub keeps the nightlife energy alive. Beyond that, you’re steps from T-Mobile Arena, The Cosmopolitan, and all the action of the Strip.

Final Thoughts: Is Park MGM Worth It?

Absolutely.

We found Park MGM to be one of the best-value 4-star hotels on the Strip. It’s clean, calm, and refreshingly smoke-free, with great dining and an unbeatable location. It’s ideal for repeat visitors who’ve done the glitz and just want a comfortable, convenient base to explore from.

If it’s your first Vegas trip and you’re chasing that “wow” factor, you might prefer something flashier like the Bellagio or Venetian. But for a relaxed, modern Vegas stay that doesn’t break the bank, Park MGM is a winner.

We paid around $930 for four nights, even during the busy Electric Daisy Carnival weekend — a real steal when neighbouring resorts were charging nearly double.

It may not scream Vegas extravagance, but that’s part of its charm. Park MGM is a calm oasis in the chaos of the Strip — and we’d happily stay again.

Should we Stay on the Strip?

We, on the whole, tend to stay on the strip. Vegas is a very confined area with almost every amenity, activity, and attraction concentrated in quite a small area, especially when compared to other cities, but in a way, this makes getting around worse as it’s often not worth getting a cab, but it’s still a pretty long walk. Wherever you stay you will end up walking A LOT. Even simple things like pools and restaurants in the hotel itself can be quite a hike! These Mega-Resorts at BIG. So the key is to find a way to minimize your walking as much as possible, the best way to do this is to choose a hotel right in the middle of things. And that means being on the strip.

In fact, it means more than that. Some strip hotels, while on the strip are actually so far at the ends of the strip that they might as well be off-strip. Mandalay Bay, Circus Circus, and The Stratosphere can all really be considered Off-Strip despite their address clearly being Las Vegas Boulevard. Staying Off-Strip means whenever you want to go anywhere you will need a Taxi/Uber/Bus/Monorail. Most Resorts have everything you need but really, Part of the Vegas Experience in Exploring Vegas, if every time you want to pop outside to check out the strip you need to pay $5+ for an Uber it gets tiring. And really there is no need. There is a Hotel to suit everyone right in the heart of the action and our list of top 10 Strip hotels will show you the perfect hotel for you.

Top 10 Hotels On The Las Vegas Strip – Our List

Our list is not simply a top 10. We have tried to include something for everyone. We have looked at budget, Midrange, and High-end options, and considered value for money, room size, and views. When considering the price we never look at the bottom-end rooms but what you need to spend to get a decent view, which is all part of the Vegas Experience. We have also considered Resort Facilities, and Fees, along with Location! This factor is so important as the strip appears very small on maps. This is not the case and it can take up to 10mins to walk a single Hotel block! In 100°F+ heat, being central is ESSENTIAL!

So Take some time to peruse our list, It would be very easy to just put the “BEST” most expensive hotels in descending order but we wanted this list to be useful to everyone, no matter the budget and tastes.

We have also ONLY included Resort Hotels. There are a number of ultra-budget options such as the Travelodge and Best Western. But for us, Vegas is all about the Glitz and Glamour you get from the Big Resorts. You can still have a great Vegas Experience staying outside a Big Casino Resort but you are just missing a bit of the experience. For only a few hundred $$ more you can be in a Tower Suite sipping pre-dinner drinks overlooking one of the most spectacular views in the world.

Las Vegas Hotel Prices

First of all, all the prices we quote are averages. Vegas hotel room Prices fluctuate like the wind. But we have tried to settle on a good average price. You might pay more when busy or less when quiet. We use a three $ rating next to the heading to indicate the price bracket $-Budget $-Moderate $$$-High-End but we also include a prices range for above-standard rooms. That way you know instantly if that hotel is within your budget. WE ALSO ALWAYS INCLUDE TAXES AND RESORT FEES!!! We hate resort fees, like everyone, but they are a fact of life in Vegas now. So we just ignore them, only looking at the bottom line price in order to compare. We give you this upfront.

Overall Hotel Prices in Vegas are CHEAP. It may not seem this way, as they are $100’s of dollars a night but the reality is for what you are getting they are fantastic value. Compare it to any other big city and see what you get for similar money!

Room Choice and the $20 Trick

Las Vegas Hotel Price Gouging

Our most hated feature of Vegas Hotels, Even worse than the Resort Fees, Parking Charges and randomly charging minibars. Las Vegas hotel prices are incredibly temperamental. The Live market can mean hotel prices can jump 3, 4 even 5 times their usual cost. Often for no particularly obvious reason. It can ruin your plans and mean if you plan to be in Vegas at any particular time at a particular hotel you can face paying seriously exorbitant prices. It’s tantamount to daylight robbery.

The reasons are simple, the hotel is nearing capacity. As such they are going to make a big profit for that period so they can ramp up the prices and people will still pay, and their profits are even better. This is usually because of an Event, A Conference, or a sporting event. Companies will buy up a large number of a particular hotel’s rooms and then the rest are sold off at much higher prices!

There is good news, you don’t ever have to pay these prices!

It is very rare that hotel prices are raised dramatically across the entire city. It will happen at certain times and maybe these are good times to avoid it as the whole city will be rammed. Of course, if the reason for the gouging is the same reason you are in town, you are kind of stuck but it’s your fault prices are high anyway!

The best plan of action is to look at a different hotel. This can be disappointing if you had your heart set on a particular hotel but it’s not as bad as being stung for exorbitant prices. There is normally at least some options at very reasonable prices. The Fickleness of the pricing works both ways and we have seen Top end hotels at moderate prices when moderates have been gouged to the eyeballs.

Also consider splitting your stay, if you really want to experience a particular hotel. On our last trip, we really wanted to stay at the Mirage but prices for the 6 nights were Double what we expected! After investigation, a large conference was arriving and half the hotel was block booked for the 4th,5th, and 6th nights. So we booked for three nights at bargain prices and relocated to Planet Hollywood for the reminder, saving $hundreds.

OK, Enough Padding, on to the List!

10 – Cosmopolitan – $$

• Best For the Young and stylish 
• Location: Center
• Average Price: $200-$300
• Why We Love it: Location, Ultra Stylish, Modern, and Young. Incredible location
• What we Don’t Like: Pool is not our favorite,

At the end of our list is a hotel that once had a good reputation when it opened 14 years ago.

Right next to the Bellagio lies The Cosmopolitan. Being right at the heart of the City location is one thing this place has going for it. The whole hotel has a vibrant young hip vibe to it. While it has nothing to do with the magazine this stylish city vibe is exactly what the hotel aims for.

The rooms are spacious and if you book right, you can get a room with incredible views over the Bellagio fountains and something else not found on any of the other hotels on our list…Balconies!

Everyone knows you can’t open Vegas hotel windows, The Giant Steel and Glass constructions, and the risk of drunk people falling or throwing items out the windows means they are predominately shut. Not at the Cosmo. Here you can book a Balcony room overlooking the Fountains (other views are available, but always go for the fountain if possible). However, Fountain View rooms with Balconies are limited and are not guaranteed as we found out on our last visit that they did not honor our booking.

The Cosmopolitan also has one of our favorite places to eat on the strip: We love the Wicked Spoon Buffet. It is one of the best buffet experiences in Vegas and of course, no visit to Vegas is complete without a good buffet meal!

Despite the young, vibrant vibe and the balconies overlooking the Bellagio, these highlights and the Wicked Spoon Buffet are the only positives of the Cosmopolitan. The pools are small and dirty and situated in the shade due to the poor layout. The drinks available on the Casino floor are of low quality and watered down. The last time we visited we found poor levels of guest services which is why we have placed the hotel so low down on the list. In 2023 there was a takeover by MGM and it seems the Cosmopolitan has lost its way as can a lot of businesses in the middle of a merger. Let’s hope things settle as time goes on and the Cosmopolitan can have the reputation back that it once held.

Top Tip – Ensure you get a balcony room, preferably with a fountain view for some epic evenings sipping bubbles on your private balcony before or after dinner!

9. MGM Grand – $$

• Best For impressive rooms at bargain prices
• Location: South Strip
• Average Price: $150-$250
• Why We Love it: Iconic Hotel with Vegas Feel and Great Rooms, Great Pool
• What we Don’t Like: Location poor, Slightly worn, Frequent poor service reports.
• Full Review

Let’s start with the bad: The location is not the best. This may seem a little odd, as on a map it really seems right in the thick of it. But those distances are deceiving and MGM is almost the worst of all worlds. It’s not so far out to justify a Taxi to most places but is far enough that it is an exhausting walk, especially after several hikes in the boiling sun. It is right at the edge of what we consider acceptable. But if you are not strong walkers, you could find yourself a bit trapped. Also of late, we hear more complaints about poor service at the MGM than just about anywhere. It is not something we have experienced ourselves but it is a worry. However, these complaints are dwarfed by the huge number of flawless trips reported, just a little over the usual amount we hear about.

But this is about where the bad ends. The basic rooms are quite small and not particularly well furnished but the upgrade options are abundant. We stayed in a Huge Spa Suite for not much more than a standard room. This is not always the case but booking a decent room and using the $20 trick can bag some really great rooms for not much money. The Stay Well Rooms are also really neat and help wash the smokey badness of Vegas out of your clothes hair and pores!

The Hotel is a Las Vegas Icon and has some excellent facilities: One of the Best Shows in Vegas- KA By Cirque du Soleil, An amazing pool area, and coupled with the room upgrade options it is a perfectly good place to stay for the pretty modest costs compared to other hotels. You get a lot for your money.

Top Tip – Always Check The upgrade Price for a Suite, often This can be Very good Value!

8 – Flamingo $

• Best For Old School Vegas Fun – Cheap
• Location: Center
• Average Price: <$100
• Why We Love It: Great Budget Hotel Right in the Heart of Vegas
• What we Don’t Like: It’s Budget and kind of feels it but in a good way…

We have a real soft spot for the Flamingo. And it’s hard to properly put it into words. It just feels like Vegas is meant to feel. Vegas has transformed in the last decade or so, from the budget Gambling mecca to a Luxury Resort filled with Monsterous monoliths of Steel and Glass devoted to pure luxury and decadence. And the Vegas of old, like The Flamingo, has been left behind. While this is all readily available on Fremont Street, The Flamingo Provides it Right in the heart of Vegas. And we love it for this.

Apart from a towering strip view, you are not giving up that much really either. The rooms are basic but well-appointed and recently refurbished, and not quite as pink as you imagine. The pool is actually really good and nearly made our top pool list. The Casino is one of the best on the strip in terms of payouts and Free Drinks. The restaurants are…well not great but you have the choice of any central strip joints open to you so who cares, They are one of the few places left to get a real bargain meal on the strip.

Overall it’s a super fun place to stay. It’s not the Highroller haunts or millionaire playgrounds some Vegas hotels can be, but it’s not trying to be. For the money, it’s about the best you will get in the middle of town.

Top Tip – Free Drinks Flow Freely in the Evening!

7 – The Mirage $$

• Best For Pretending you are in Hawaii, not Vegas.
• Location: South of Center
• Average Price: $150-$150
• Why We Love it: Tropical getaway, Pool, Great Rooms, and Views
• What we Don’t Like: Could be closer to the Center
• Full Review

If the Mirage was just a touch closer it would skyrocket up the list, but it is just a touch far out. Still, it has a lot going for it. We adore all things Polynesian, the Culture, the Climate, the Lush green Landscapes, So a Polynesian-themed hotel in Vegas, one of our other great loves, is heavenly.

The pool is our special place in Vegas. Somewhere to go and pretend we are by the ocean on a tropical island, preferably Maui. Standard rooms are a little dated but the Stay Well rooms are really cool. Just like the MGM, they offer Mood lighting and Aromatherapy Airconditioning. The whole floor smells so exotic and inviting it quickly washes the Casino floor out of your hair. However, the best rooms are the Resort Tower Kings (Apart from the various suites) These rooms are guaranteed on the top floor and offer incredible extensive views of the strip. The View you want is a pool view as they look South down the entire strip. The Strip view rooms tend to look across the strip and the Encore/Wynn/Palazzo and while you get a great view including the Volcano, it’s not as impressive as the south strip view.

The upgraded rooms are not much more than a standard and can be snagged using the $20 quite readily as they are not much more expensive. The Mirage Buffet is one of the best budget offerings and the hotel’s amenities are excellent in general, the Gardens, fountains, and large tropical Botanical Greenhouse in the Foyer all add to the feeling of a tropical getaway. It even has a Volcano!

We really love the Mirage, the tropical getaway, reasonable prices, and the great pool really make it, just be prepared to walk.

In 2021 the Mirage was bought by the Hard Rock International Group and as a result, will be undergoing a lengthy remodel into a new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino right on the Strip. We have mixed feelings about this as we really do love the interior and theming of the way the current hotel is. We understand that change is all part of Vega’s culture but we will be sad to see the Mirage Hotel disappear from The Strip! If the current Mirage Hotel sounds good to you, book now before the renovations start and the hotel changes forever.

Top Tip – Stay-Well Rooms Are all on Mid-Level Floors but have their own lift and are wonderfully refreshing, an important feature in Vegas!

6 – Aria – $$

• Best For Modern Luxury
• Location: Center
• Average Price: $250-$350
• Why We Love It: Super Modern Luxury Hotel Right in a nearly perfect location.
• What we Don’t Like: The Theme is a little bland, and the overall experience is a touch cold.

Aria is “Modern Las Vegas” Personified. Its upmarket, clean, minimalist design is stunning to behold and its near-perfect central location puts you right at the heart of everything. It’s a Hotel that screams look at me. A perfect fit for those looking for the epitome of ultra-modern luxury.

Rooms are super stylish but not too minimalist so they retain an element of coziness. Too modern and things just become cold and unwelcoming. The hotel’s facilities are pretty much as you would expect and the pool is a really nice stylish area with just the right blend of modern design and tropical lushness. The casino is large but not in a layout where you get lost easily and the casino floor drinks are plentiful and of good quality.

The downsides are few, The location is nearly perfect but it is set so far back from the strip that it almost feels off-strip, after 10 or 20 trips to the strip it gets tiring. The Hotel also lacks character, it’s a plush modern hotel, but it’s not particularly Vegas, you can find this type of hotel in any city. However, over the years the hotel has begun to be used as a filming location for Las Vegas-based movies such as Last Vegas so it is starting to get a touch of Sin City notoriety!

It is also very keenly priced for such a high-end feeling hotel and if modern design and styling is your thing it really fits the bill perfectly. The Aria is our favourite non-themed strip hotel apart from the Aria which is a much higher price point.

Top Tip – Make sure you get a strip View as the Mountain Views are fairly uninspiring views of the I-15, Parking Lots, and Industrial Areas, With the mountains in the background.

5 – Planet Hollywood – $$

• Best For Stunning Fountain Views
• Location: Center
• Average Price: $160-$250
• Why We Love it: Perfect Central Location, Best View in town!
• What we Don’t Like: The pool is really not great. Lacks a real theme
• Full Review

Planet Hollywood is only on the list with a Caveat. You book a Fountain View Room. Don’t wait for Check-in, book it straight off. With a Fountain View room, you are getting probably the best view in Vegas. For a Fraction of the cost of other Fountain View rooms. These are even better than the Bellagio as from there, you are looking at the back of the fountains, and with Ceasars and Cosmo a Side View while at Paris, someone has plonked the Eiffel Tower in the way. At Planet Hollywood it’s Full Frontal and unobstructed! If you are high enough of course, so save your check-in tip to ensure you get a HIGH room. And with a view like this, you can be sure you are slap-bang in the middle of everything. The location is perfect! And the prices are very reasonable.

But nothing comes for free and this incredible location and stunning views at a budget price must have some downsides! Well to start with there is the pool. This is a real letdown. The Pool Deck is just a blank empty concrete expanse with two small square pools at each end, very uninspiring, and drink prices are at the high end, and service at the pool reflects the dullness of the pool area. If the pool is important it could be one to avoid, however, you can pick up Cabana’s very cheaply.

Rooms are simple but well-appointed. They have a simple but modern design that is quite pleasing but nothing over the top luxury-wise. Basically a solid but simple room. But the view out the window is mindblowing.

We feel that Planet Hollywood is often overlooked due to its fairly bland theming it just doesn’t stand out, but it’s reasonably priced and perfectly located, and did we mention the views?

Top Tip – Always get a Fountain View Room on a High Level, Do not use the Automated check-in machines but speak to a real person to request a high floor!

4 – Venetian / Palazzo – $$$

Entering the Top 5 now and things are getting awesome. The Venitian and the Palazzo are sister hotels that share the same complex and between them boast over 7000 rooms and suites making it the second biggest hotel in the WORLD! The entire theming of the complex is seriously epic replicating many Italian and Venetian landmarks to recreate the floating city right in the heart of the Desert!

The Hotel pulls it off really well and while it’s no match for the real thing it is a memorable and surreal experience wandering around the canals and squares of this Italian landmark. The Hotel is one of the biggest draws and a real must-see but it is also a pretty cool place to stay.

The Venetian offers rooms of all types but the Pallazo is a stunning Suite only Complex. Even the most basic Suite will blow you away, While one up on a high floor will leave your jaw on the floor! The Pool complex is wonderful and there are endless dining options in the Grand Canal Shops.

The downside is it’s a little bit too far to the north, about level with the Mirage, and the Palazzo even further but with the number of amenities it doesn’t suffer too badly from this. Overall it is hard to beat the Venitien and the Palazzo, but fortunately, Vegas has some seriously epic hotels!

Top Tip – The Palazzo is an All-Suite Hotel and the rooms are HUGE!

3 – Caesars Palace – $$

• Best For Re-enacting the Hangover
• Location: Center
• Average Price: $200-$350
• Why We Love it: Iconic Vegas Hotel with a fantastic theme.
• What we Don’t Like: Basic rooms are quite small, Complex probably too BIG!

Unlike most of the hotels on our list, which are all quite new (apart from the Flamingo) Caesars Palace is old, really old. It first opened its doors in 1966. A lot has changed on the Strip since then. Casinos have risen and fallen, the old cleared out for the new, and the strip has expanded in all directions. One Constant, however, has been Caesars. Except it hasn’t.

Despite having already celebrated its 50th Birthday, the Current incarnation of Caesars Palace bears little resemblance to the original. It has been re-developed and expanded to the point it kind of is a new hotel. Very little remains of the Caesars of old. But that is a good thing whereas other hotels have fallen by the wayside, Caesars has capitalized on its success and gone from strength to strength.

4 Giant Towers house 4,300+ Hotel Rooms, the Forum shops offer every imaginable brand and restaurant, and The huge pool complex features several picture-perfect pools for relaxation and selfies. It really is the quintessential Vegas Mega-Complex. Situated right next door to the Bellagio its location is perfect, however, due to the gigantic nature of the complex you can end up walking incredible distances just to get out. Also, venturing into the forum shops can mean being lost for eternity!

Room Choice is complicated and getting the wrong room can mean a disappointing experience. The Julius Tower is the oldest part of the building and has poor views, The Forum Tower is better but overlooks the Colosseum and the low floors are poor. The Palace Tower is where things start to get good with far-reaching views from high floors, and the Augustus Tower and the Octavius Tower the Newest. Augustus is the best choice for a fountain View.

The lower-end rooms are not the best available in Vegas and can be quite small compared to other choices but staying in Caesars is special enough. The theme is perfectly executed, with endless sculptures, marble floors, ornate fountains, and a general feeling of specialness. Caesars is just one of those hotels you have to visit even if you are not staying there, but to check into these hallowed walls via the iconic Lobby is something most people will enjoy. Just remember, the check-in staff have heard ALL the hangover lines, over and over, for many years…give them a break!

Top Tip – Book at least a Forum Room and try and bag a $20 Upgrade, Caesars has a lot of rooms and many are unsold in the bigger towers so upgrades are very common.

2 – Wynn / Encore – $$$

• Best For Outstanding Luxury and Facilities
• Location: North Strip
• Average Price: $320-$600
• Why We love it: The highest levels of luxury and Quality
• What we Don’t Like: Poor Location, can feel a little bland

Steve Wynn knows how to build a hotel and the Wynn was a revolutionary concept for Vegas. A true beacon of utter luxury. So much so, that he quickly put up its sister hotel next door as an Encore?…get it? These two towers of luxury almost operate as one single hotel hence why we have lumped them together. Often referred to as the finest hotels in Las Vegas we tend to agree. There is little that the Wynn and Encore do wrong. However, it’s not grabbed our top spot. Mainly Due to Location.

The Encore marks pretty much the northern extent of the strip, while the Wynn is a little closer it is still far enough out to be a nuisance. Most places you will want to visit are too far to walk and you will need to make use of taxis or Uber to get anywhere. Some find the Hotels themselves a little bland as well, they lack any Vegas-style personality, instead, focusing on pure luxury. We have even heard people go as far as to call the hotels boring!

That is all subjective however and if you just want the ultimate in the finer things of life the Wynn and Encore are the perfect fit. Rooms are luxuriously appointed in a modern way that feels plush and welcoming while retaining that modern minimalist style. Get the right view and you are looking almost straight down the strip and it is pretty incredible.

As the Hotels are a bit far down the strip everything you need is available in-house. From the best restaurants, the best Buffet in Vegas, and a Stunning Pool Complex. It even has Free Parking. There is so much to love about the wonderful Wynn Hotels and people are drawn back time and again. If only they were just a touch closer.

Top Tip – The Wynn and Encore are top quality highly desirable hotels but they suffer the Exact Same Inoccupancy issues as other hotels. This means at times the prices drop considerably and can be picked up for as little as $180 per night, That is incredible value for such a prestigious hotel!

1 – Bellagio – $$$

• Best Hotel In Vegas
• Location: Center
• Average Price: $300-$500
• Why We Love it: Iconic Vegas Hotel that really lives up to its reputation, perfect location
• What we Don’t Like: Communal areas are BUSY!

We have made a point of recommending Hotels that are close to the center…but where is the center? Well in our opinion it’s the Bellagio. Now Geographically, it is actually almost exactly halfway down the Hotel-Populated portion of the strip. However, we don’t just mean the center geographically, it really is the beating heart of the City. The hotel fountains are now the most iconic image of Vegas and people flock here to take in the shows and witness the spectacle that is Vegas. Things just seem to radiate out from this point.

You do not get to be number one on our list just because you are at the center though! Fortunately, the Bellagio has enough to pretty much take the top spot all by itself. It is the Flagship Hotel of the MGM Brand and a supremely luxurious and decadent Hotel. The Rooms are Stunningly appointed in an elegant luxurious style, reminiscent of European opulence with a touch of modernity. Basically, they are really really nice rooms. The Hotel itself mirrors this throughout with a top pool, incredible buffet some of the best amenities and restaurants in town, and an all-around wonderful atmosphere.

The downside is, that the Bellagio is a tourist attraction in its own right and as such will be very busy in all the public spaces as people simply head in just to see the Hotel and Casino. We wouldn’t let that put you off though as the pool and guest-only areas allow you to escape the masses.

All the wonderfulness is available for far less than you think. Ok, $400 per night for a Fountain View Room is not cheap, but really this is one of the most iconic and luxurious hotels on the strip, so for one or two nights as a real treat, it is not as horrific as you might expect!

Top Tip – Fountain View Rooms are not that much more expensive than Standard/Strip view rooms So seriously consider them as a real indulgence. There is little better than watching the fountain shows from your very own Bellagio Fountain view room!

Notable Mentions

Mandalay Bay $$

Mandalay Bay is a great hotel. It is basically a $$$ hotel at $$ prices. It has a stunning pool, Great rooms, incredible views, every imaginable convenience, and amenities all for a great price. So why is it not on the list? Well despite being squarely on Las Vegas Boulevard, Aka the Strip. it might as well not be.

All the way down the in the far south end of Vegas, it really is near nothing…apart from the airport. So if you are looking for a relaxing stay in just one resort it is really perfect, but Vegas isn’t about that…try Mexico? Vegas is about the Town and Exploring all the weird and wonderful things it has to offer. Staying at the Mandalay means to do anything you need a Taxi/Uber, No, you really do, it’s B****Y Miles from anywhere!

If you have found this after you booked, don’t worry, as we said it’s a GREAT hotel, just get Uber loaded on your phone and be ready to spend some of what you saved on Uber.

Paris $$$

We are not exactly sure what it is about Paris that gets it knocked off our list. Maybe it’s just a personal preference as there is just not much about the Hotel that Draws us in. There is little to dislike really. It’s a moderate-high price that comes with a ton of luxury, great amenities, strong theming, a near-perfect location, and some super rooms with great views. There is just something that leaves us a little cold. This is far more a result of the level of competition rather than the actual hotel itself.

New York New York $

New York, New York is an excellent budget option. It is not quite up to the excellent standard of a top 10 but it’s still an excellent choice in this bracket. The Resort has some of the best restaurants in town and a really good casino floor. The rooms are not the best and the pool is a letdown, it’s also at the very edge of where we would want to stay. But it is a very solid choice for the money-conscious.

Recommended off-Strip

Rio- All Suites

We really Like Rio. It is a budget Resort that does everything it can to make up for the Off-Strip Location. It has a great pool, great nightlife, good restaurants, and everything is great value. It really is worth a punt staying here and using the extra you save to pay for an odd Uber to the strip and back! Oh, and we should mention the Rio is All Suites so even basic rooms are pretty special.

Palms

The Palms is a top-quality resort and would easily make our top 10 list if it were actually on the strip. Alas, it isn’t and this makes it an awkward stay. It is actually a long way off the strip so getting to and fro things is a bit of a pain. It’s a shame as otherwise, we would LOVE the Palms.

What is the Las Vegas Pass?

The Las Vegas Pass is an all-inclusive pass where you can visit as many attractions from the list as you like with the specified time scale. Either 2, 3, or five days. The Pass includes over 55 of Las Vegas’s best attractions including some great shows and some really good tours out in the surrounding desert.

How Much Does the Las Vegas Pass Cost?

It’s not Cheap! But the Pass includes a whole heap of top high-end attractions that would set you back a fortune if bought separately. If your Vegas Trip is to be once in a lifetime “all-in” trip then this pass includes everything you need to make it a trip you will not forget. But that sort of expense doesn’t come cheap.

The Las Vegas Pass is far and away the MOST expensive pass on the market. Later in the Review, we will break down how this all works out and if these rather High Prices are good value or not. But it’s clear from the off this is an incredibly high-cost pass.

Honestly, at this sort of cost, it is hard to really recommend the pass over some of its rivals you have to work REALLY hard to get value, and even then some of the “recommended” prices are dubious, again we look at this later.

The good news is, The Las Vegas pass Regularly has Sales and discount codes. These are good for up to 20% off and at those sorts of Prices, things change somewhat. However, These sales are NEAR perpetual meaning there is almost always a promotion Running. With prices below typical:

How Does the Pass Work?

The Pass is a Digital Pass meaning you don’t need a card or anything physical to use it. Simply download the APP and scan your phone right at the attraction to get right in.

Tours and a few other attractions must be booked in advance and then you scan your pass on the day when you actually attend the tour. Shows can only be booked the morning of the show you wish to see, which is a bit of an issue that we look at later in the Review.

Is the Las Vegas Pass Right For Me?

First of all, not everyone suits a pass, and not everyone suits the Las Vegas Pass. So the First question is Do you really want to do the activities listed?

Are you the type that just wants to chill by the pool, gamble, and get wasted in the evening? Then Repeat. If so a pass may not be a good idea at all.

However, if you want more out of your trip than that and want to see the best Las Vegas has to offer and enjoy trips that are packed full of things to see and do then a Pass is a very good way of saving a lot of money.

The Las Vegas Pass is best suited to people who really want to See and Do EVERYTHING. The pass has almost endless high-end premium attractions and you will find the main issue packing it all in. It will result in an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Another point of interest is there are NO child prices, yes you could pay the adult price but that would be expensive and a lot of the shows are adult only and hence why there are no child passes available!

However, with the HIGH purchase price and need to pack a lot into your days it may not be the best pass for everyone. There are plenty of others to take a look at, however.

Other Las Vegas Pass Options?

There are several other passes available in Las Vegas and we have reviewed them all. People always vacation in different ways and the different pass options suite some people more than others. Let’s take a quick look at the other options before looking at the attractions included on the Las Vegas Pass.

Las Vegas Go- Card – One of Our Favourite passes offering all-inclusive attraction with added premium attractions at a very competitive price. $134-$319

Las Vegas Explorer Pass – A Cheaper and simpler option. Here you choose the number of attractions you want to visit and can then do so at your leisure. Perfect for those wanting to just visit a few attractions. $80-$140

Las Vegas Sightseeing Pass – Another Premium Pass offering both Day passes and Attractions Passes with included Premium attractions. This is very similar to the Las Vegas pass with slightly different attractions included and is a good option if the line up is more suited to your taste. t does lack some of the big name shows though $169-$499

Attractions

With over 55 Attractions we can’t possibly go into detail on them all so instead we focus on our favorites and the ones that give the most value in terms of enjoyment. If you already know what attractions are available you can just skip past this section to the next where we ask if the Las Vegas Pass is Good Value and take a look at its real Pros and Cons.

Shows

The Pass is the first we have seen to include a whole host of top A-list Shows that can all cost $100’s each. Most Vegas passes include some shows but they are normally the slightly less popular shows and while normally good options you would have to miss out or pay separately if you want to see a BIG show. While there are no big stat residencies including with the Las Vegas Pass there are some big, big shows.

You are restricted to ONE Show per day. But really who wants to see two shows a day in a City that has SO much to see and do. You are also limited to booking the show on the morning of the show. This is a pretty disappointing restriction. And we discuss it in detail below. While it’s not the end of the world if a show is REALLY important to you we don’t advise relying on the Pass and just booking ahead. But if you are just looking for a show or two and not particularly fussed about which this is a killer option. Just look a the list Of Shows

We have also included some more realistic price options as the pass website lists the most expensive ticket and there is no guarantee you will get the “premium” seats, in fact, you will get what is left! It probably won’t be the cheapest seats as they sell out quite quickly but probably not the best either!

KA By Cirque Du Soleil – MGM Grand – $69.99 – $159.99

Our Favourite Soleil Show ever. KA Is a staggering spectacle. Almost impossible to describe here, it is a staggering feat of theatre. Blending unimaginable Human Feats of Acrobatics with a Giant Robotic Stage and stunning sets. It is scarcely believable what you are seeing. The Theme is Oriental and focuses on a love story endured within a war between two tribes, a kind of Romeo and Juliet story. But told in the most staggering way.

Zumanity by Cirque Du Soleil – New York New York $69 – $104.99

Zumanity is more of an acquired taste and for a mature audience, it attempts to explore sensuality and sexuality. It’s a cross between Burlesque and Acrobatic Cirque style feats. It has all the wows and thrills of a Cirque show just a bit sexier!

Love By Cirque Du Soleil – The Mirage $79.99 – 159.65

Love is a Beatles tribute in the Style of a Cirque Du Soleil Show. As huge Beatles fans we do like the show but the Beatles story is probably the least fitting for a Cirque show. Still, Jaw-dropping feats of acrobatics set to the best music in the world (just my opinion) makes for a very enjoyable evening.

The Blue Man Group – Luxor $59 – $151

The Blue Man Group is a USA Phenomenon. This hugely popular act has become a firm favorite and must-see show. It is not actually really to our tastes and the do split opinion, but the popularity is undeniable. The Act is a blend of percussion, stunning light show and a bit of slapstick thrown in. If the Blue Man Group is your thing this is a great addition.

Magic Mike Live – Hard Rock $85 – $145

One for the Ladies. Vegas is all about indulgence and the Magic Mike Live show is certainly that. Don’t expect a sleazy strip show here though these are talented dancers performing their art in an incredible and elaborate stage show. But don’t worry, there are not many clothes and the show pays adequate lip service to the Films.

Magic Mike is currently not running in Vegas after the takeover of Hard Rock Hotel, The show will be back soon and hopefully re-added to the Pass!

Criss Angel – Mind Freak – Planet Hollywood – $91.96 – $120

Criss Angels Mind Freak Vegas is a seriously stunning work of art. The show is breathtaking from start to end and one of our favorite shows on the strip. We are not huge magic fans, to be honest, but the dramatic set, thrilling visuals and thundering soundtrack elevate this to a level FAR above a magic show. That said the Magic is completely jaw-dropping! This is a seriously fantastic addition to the Pass!

Mat Franco Magic Reinvented – The Linq $49 – $108

Mat Franco, winner of America’s Got Talent brought his incredible show to Las Vegas and has taken a town already renowned for fantastic magic shows by storm. Now one of Vegas’s must-see magic shows.

Tours

There are also a number of tours available. As much as Vegas is an incredible place it’s setting in the Mojave Desert does encourage you to get out and see some of the incredible natural surroundings within the vicinity of Las Vegas.

Grand Canyon South Rim Tour – $159.99

Most tours of the Grand Canyon take you to the West Rim area. Here the Canyon is narrow, shallow and fairly disappointing for some. To see the REAL Grand canyon you need to head for the South Rim and the Grand Canyon National Park. This tour does just that!

Why then do so many tours head for the west rim? Simple really it’s much closer and the South Rim is a LONG drive from Las Vegas. This Bus tour will set you back 13 HOURS and cost a 5 AM Wake-up call getting you back to your hotel around 7 PM. That’s a long hard day on a Coach.

Is it worth it? Hell yes. The Grand Canyon is a true wonder of the world and at the South Rim where you can see the canyon in all it’s glory. It is easily worth a 13-hour bus tour.

There are better ways to see the canyon, such as driving yourself and staying over in Tusayan but if you are only able to give one day to visit the canyon this is a great way to see it. Driving there and back in on day is hard work (over 550 Miles!) and the Bus Tour provides breakfast and lunch with no chance of getting lost along the way.

Hoover Dam Half Day – $59.99

IF you are wanting to get out but not cost a full day the Hoover damn is a great choice. This stunning piece of engineering is an American Icon and well worth getting away from the strip for a few hours to see. The Trip has a much gentler wake-up call and should have you back by the pool for midday.

Horseshoe bend and Glen Canyon – $150

If the Idea of 13 hours on a bus is not enough the Horseshoe Bend and Glen Canyon tour could be the one for you. Over 14 hours and 600miles of travel. It better be worth it!

It is. Horseshoe bend is at the upper reaches of the Grand Canyon before it has formed properly and is the result of the Colorado River cutting through the rock. The Stunning bend in the river is the stuff of dream for photographers. It is a piece of natural beauty to rival anything anywhere in the world. They type of place you think isn’t real and the imagining of a Hollywood director. A real gem.

Glen Canyon and the Glen Canyon Dam are next. The dam is a worthwhile rival to the Hoover damn but even more dramatic due to the incredible natural beauty of the lake and the canyon where it’s located. Lake Powell is a stunning lake and nearly as big as Lake Mead and is a stunning blue azure color. The narrow Canyon walls really do make this an impressive awe-inspiring location.

The Final Location on the tour is Page Arizona. This small town is nothing to write home about but it allows you to upgrade the tour for a visit Antelope Canyon. An absolute MUST SEE!

It is not included in the tour but, do not come all this way and not upgrade to visit this absolute natural wonder. It is the type of place you don’t think can exist let alone be visited and the colors and formations of the slot canyons walls defy belief. If you have an Instagram account. You need to visit here!!!

It is, of course, a very specialized trip and most my just find this an awfully long day on a bus. And it is no doubt a tough old ride, but they payoffs are staggering.

Attractions

Las Vegas Strip Helicopter Tour $124

Las Vegas at night is one of the most stunning visual feasts you can imagine. The bright lights and shimmering glass and steel just come alive once the sun goes down. One of the absolute best ways to witness this from the Air. The Nigh time Helicopter Tour is a real once in a lifetime experience as you soar over the strip feeling like a millionaire Movie Star.

We can’t think of a more perfect way to spend an evening and anyone using this pass should jump at the chance of seeing Vegas form the air at night.

Unless you are scared of flying …then maybe not.

Richard Petty Driving Experience: Ride Along $149.99

Ever dreamed of riding in a real NASCAR? … No? well, this will probably not interest you too much. However, if you have spent your life growing watching and Loving NASCAR then this could be right up your street. It’s not often you get the chance to ride in an actual NASCAR alongside a pro Driver, on a track doing real NASCAR Speeds. Even a Visit to the Raceway is a pretty good experience if you are into racing and there will be cars out on the track regularly to see and hear. But when it’s time for your 3-Laps it will be a truly unforgettable experience.

If your other half has always wanted to experience a real NASCAR but the thought of spending hours at a race track in the burning sun sounds like hell, maybe don’t let them know about this one? Joking…Sort off.

High Roller – $25

We love Observation wheels and the Highroller is a great one. It is the world’s tallest observation wheel and the view from the top is like nothing in the world. Vegas really is built to be seen from above.

It’s a shame the Ticket is only for a day ride and a double shame it’s not a Happy hour Pod too. But guess you can’t have everything and the high roller is definitely one not to be missed.

2 Day Hop On Hop Off Bus – $52

Hop On Hop Off Buses are great fun, Vegas is not the best place to experience these are really they just go up and down the strip so it’s not really a tour. So the Totals are not as stunning as some of the other Pass options. But we have been VERY Barebones in our itineraries, you could pack a lot more in. We have also done what no other pass Review has done and taken the LOWEST price for a Show ticket. In all the other calculations they have just rehashed the Las Vegas Pass Websites quoted prices. These are not a fair reflection of what you would have paid!

And Still, the pass works out very favorably, and a Five-day pass even more so If you take our itineraries but on a five-day pass and do all five days it works out at:

If you are in Vegas a week or more the 5 Day Pass is great value. Finally, we are Quoting the MAXIMUM price you will pay for the Pass. We don’t recommend paying that. As we have said there are regular deals and offers and we see no reason not to wait for these (unless you are traveling tomorrow)

It’s hard to ignore the HUGE purchase price of these cards but even with everything skewed against them, they come out saving you loads of cash. It doesn’t take much to make then appear far better value, like a 20% off code or a big sale, or maybe you bag some super seats to your shows.

There are also a few things we like about the pass on top of just savings but these could be attributed to any attractions pass.

Why we love the Las Vegas Pass

So the Pass has a HUGE roster of really high-quality attractions and the savings are pretty staggering. There are a few other benefits to getting The Las Vegas Pass. These are fairly intangible benefits but they can really make a trip more memorable and special. We use passes everywhere we go and the unseen benefits can really make having a pass in your back pocket (figuratively) worthwhile. On top of the already great savings.

Budgeting

Las Vegas trips can be EXPENSIVE. While headline prices can seem super cheap, when you start adding in food costs, gambling expenses, buffets, Drinks shopping etc… It all really adds up. Attraction costs can often be overlooked meaning one of two scenarios, you end up doing very little as you can’t afford the extra expense or you blow your budget and run out of money early or return home to a terrifying credit card bill.

Buying a Pass allows you to take care of all this upfront and not give it a second thought.

Inspiration

First-time visitors are not often aware of exactly what is available to do In Las Vegas, they think it’s all drinking and gambling. The list of available attractions can provide a great guide and an inspiration to visitors showing them a whole new side of the City and doing things they would never have considered before when planning a trip. You may even have been inspired as you read through the list of available attractions? Did you know you could visit Antelope canyon or take a ride in a Nascar before seeing it on the Pass?

Often some of the things we do on a pass end up our favorite things and we would almost certainly have not bothered without the pass.

Planning

To Properly experience a place you need a plan. Many people just turn up ad hoc and expect the city to fall into their lap. It won’t. Instead, you will just end up doing and seeing less. Having a pass offer a great start to build up an itinerary. Knowing what attractions or shows you are going to see is the perfect start. Knowing where you will be on the stip gives you the base to then build out around it.

By simply visiting attractions will have you visit different parts of the strips different casinos and help you really get the best out of the City, while the tours should help you get out and see some of the surrounding area. We always find trips using a Pass are far more varied and in-depth than ad hoc trips with no real plan.

Flexibility

That said, rigid itineraries are the stuff of nightmares. Harking back to school trip days with teachers barking orders at you. No one wants that. Having a pass allows you a huge amount of flexibility to chop and change your trip based on mood, weather, simply how much you drank the day before! It’s great to have a plan but things change and with the pass, you can simply alter the plan as you go.

Less Hassle

It is quite possible to save money by shopping around and getting deals on various shows and attractions. We doubt you will save nearly as much as the Pass if you use the pass wisely. Still, this would be quite a faff and require you to cart a load of tickets and papers around with you. You would also need to stick to a more rigid itinerary. It’s a small thing but using the pass really does simplify things quite a lot. Just turn up, Scan the pass and away you go.

Day and Night Attractions

The Las Vegas Pass has a really good selection of Day and Night Attractions and shows so you can maximize the pass, using it both day and night. A day checking out the Strip and its attractions followed by a show in the evening, or out on the club tour. This way it is really easy to get value from the pass!

Time Share Sharks

This advantage is a bit tenuous but what the hell. Walking the strip you WILL be inundated by Time Share Sharks. Every time you pass, “Free Tickets to a show?”. They are very persistent and it can take quite a bit to just walk by ignoring them, which is the only way. Any form of engagement and they have you hooked. But with a pass in your back pocket knowing all your attractions are all sorted, it’s much easier to say “I’m all sorted thanks” and move along. You can even tell them this and they will realize you are not a fish worth catching.

What we Don’t Like about the Las Vegas Pass

Show Booking

First off, and it’s a BIG issue. You cannot Book the Shows in advance. From experience Shows in Vegas do not Sell out every night and there is “normally” availability for the shows on the morning of the show. So in most cases, you will be fine. However, this brings up a couple of other issues.

The Headline price for the show and how much you “could” save is a little misleading. Show Tickets are a live market and some seats are better and more expensive than others. The Las Vegas Pass, Website have chosen to List the Most expensive ticket as their “Original Pass” Most Reviews have simply taken them at this face value. We have done it differently and quoted you the lowest price.

You will be fairly limited to what seats are available. You are going to get what’s left rather than what you want. The importance of which depends on how much you really want to see any particular show. Which leads us on to our next point.

While Availability is likely, especially for the less popular shows it is not guaranteed. If a show is particularly popular (New) or the City is exceptionally busy or you are just unlucky with your timing, you could miss out on a particular show.

The importance of this depends on how essential a particular show is to you. If you JUST HAVE to see a particular production it might just pay to book it anyway. If the whole trip will be ruined because you didn’t get to see Magic Mike or your heart is set on seeing the breathtaking KA, or if the Blue Man Group has been on your list for ages, maybe don’t chance it?

We can certainly make no promises there will be tickets on any given night and nor can the pass companies. We do say for the less popular shows there is almost always ticket availability and even with the in-demand shows such as Blue Man and Criss Angel, there are normally seats available. After all, that is why the productions have agreed to be featured on the Passes, as there are empty seats and they would prefer them filled. But if a particular show is absolutely your heart’s desire we would hate to see you miss it!

It’s a shame as a pre-booking system would negate all this negativity and make the pass a truly fantastic option.

Chasing the Pass

This is a problem with most passes. It refers to the tenancy to plan or try to cram too much in to try and get the best value out of the pass. There are only so many hours in the day and we only have so much tolerance to charging around visiting attractions. Trying to cram too much in will just lead to disappointment and exhaustion. Time should be spent seeing the City, Checking out the Casinos Gambling (if you like), Relaxing by the pool etc.

People sometimes lose sight of this and just want to do as much as possible just to make the pass seem better value.

Consecutive Calendar Days

The Pass user our least favorite activation method. Consecutive Calendar Days. This means whatever time you activate the card this counts as your first full day it’s not a 24hour period but the calendar day.

So if you activate a 3-day pass on a Saturday and you will get Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to use the pass. This is fine if you activate at 9:00 AM but if you activate at 5:00 PM then you have lost most of your day. Of course, the onus is on you to only activate early in the day.

It is also consecutive days which we don’t like as much as non-consecutive days. You don’t get time off to relax and sit by the pool but must keep visiting attractions for the life of the card. We prefer having activity day interspersed with relaxing days like some passes offer. However, no Vegas passes offer this.

Missing Attractions

There are few attractions missing from the line up in Our Opinion. The fantastic Mob Museum, and The Bodies Exhibits. These are quality and fun attractions that are on most other passes and it’s a shame they are missing. There is still tons to see and do but we do think these are a missed opportunity.

Overall

The Las Vegas Pass is a real heavyweight on the Vegas Pass Scene. It combines so A+ Shows with great tours and some really good attractions. You are going to need to be interested in the High-End attractions to get value from the very high Purchase price.

While it is expensive the attractions shows and tours are also very high end and very expensive as well so if you are looking for that all singing all dancing tour the Las Vegas Pass could be right up your street.

We do advise hunting out sales and Promo codes however as if you can find 10-20% off that eye-watering Price becomes a lot more swallow-able and the Value goes through the roof!

What is the Las Vegas Sightseeing Pass?

The Pass has two main options the Day Pass and the Flex Pass.

With the Flex Pass, You choose the number of attractions you wish to visit from the list of attractions. You then have 30 Days, from the first attraction, to visit the attractions you purchased. You don’t need to pick the attractions beforehand just the number so you can easily change your mind at any time before visiting, which offers great flexibility.

With the Day Pass, you have unlimited Attractions for the slightly expanded list that you can visit anytime within the number of Days you Purchased.

As you can see, with the Flex Pass the Price Per Attraction drops the more Attractions you purchase. With the 7 Attractions Pass at only $19.75 per attraction, it’s not hard to get good value when most attractions are well over $30

The Day Pass is a little more expansive but it still offers incredible value. The per-day price is between $54.50 and $47.80 meaning you only need to fit 2-3 attractions in per day to make the pass worth buying and with some attractions valued at $60-70 it is very easy to save $2-300 with the pass.

The Las Vegas Sightseeing Pass in Practice

The Las Vegas Sightseeing Pass is a Digital Pass. The Web Page and Marketing conjure up images of an actual card that you need to swipe to access the attractions. This is the Digital Age however and such things are largely confined to the rubbish bin. Instead, the Pass will be instantly Emailed to you and you can then use it directly from your phone. The pass is a QR code that is simply Scanned at the attraction to grant you access.

If you are Old School you can always print out your QR Codes and use the Pass that way, and in our experience, this is always a good idea in case of a technology issue such as a flat battery.

Some attractions allow pre-booking, and for some it is essential. Really if pre-booking is available we strongly advise it or you may be in for a long wait or miss out completely. We point out any of the attractions that you need or should pre-book as we discuss them below. Look for the Calendar Symbol on the Attractions Page.

While this does detract a little from the flexibility it does provide peace of mind that you won’t miss out. In fact, we would prefer if a few more of the shows would have this option rather than having to attend the Ticket Office the day of the show.

Advantages

Inspiration

When Visiting any New city it is not always inherently obvious what attractions are available. There is inevitably a whole host of different things to do but finding out exactly what is the most desirable to you can be hard. Purchasing a Pass can open your eye’s to a whole host of things you were completely unaware of. Some of which could end up being your favorite part of the trip. We endlessly hear from people who found something they loved they just didn’t know was available. And have ourselves found the same on most occasions we have used a Pass!

Planning

Having a Pass is also a great way to begin planning your itinerary for your trip. Knowing exactly what attractions you are going to visit helps build out the skeleton of the trip that you can then flesh out with other ideas and things to do, eat, drink or see! It really can be one of the best ways to begin planning your trip. Simply take a look around the area of any planned attractions and see what else might appeal!

Flexibility

While Planning is important to any trip and especially to ensure you get the best out any pass, it is also important to be flexible. Things change, weather may have an impact or you may just not be in the mood. Maybe you planned something early but stayed up until 3 shooting Craps and drinking, and just don’t fancy what you had penciled in. No problem, for a lot of the attractions on the pass you just show up whenever you want and in you go, giving you the flexibility, to tinker with your itinerary to suit anything your trip may throw at you.

Some attractions do require booking and obviously, these require a little more rigidity in your plan, but that would be the case regardless.

Budgeting

Vegas is expensive. Everywhere you go and everything you do it seems someone is trying to get a little bit more cash out of you. While it’s easy to have a great time on a budget there is always the pressure to spend a little more. That Wheel of Fortune Slot machine just begging you to slip that $20 in! At least with a Pass, you have the attraction side all sown up beforehand. No Nasty surprises when you open your credit card bill and No blowing all your cash on blackjack and have nothing left to do but sit by the pool!

Simplicity

There are loads of ways to Save Money on Attractions in Vegas and you never need to pay the gate price. So some of the headline savings of the pass can be a little misleading. However, doing so requires a lot of time-consuming research, hunting out the best deals and Groupons. Striking while the iron is hot and then printing out and carrying around a host of E-mails, Coupons, and tickets. Alternatively, You could just buy the pass, save more, and get on with planning your trip and researching gambling techniques!

Disadvantages

There are some inherent disadvantages of buying the Las Vegas Sightseeing Pass. These are problems inherent in most Passes and some specific to this pass. As we said Some online travel Forums, “Experts” and message boards are dead against Passes. While we think they generally overstate the negatives and miss the fact you can save up to 70% on gate prices, they do have some valid points, not everything about a Pass is positive.

One problem is what we call Chasing the Pass. This is the feeling that as you have to cram as much in as possible to get value from the Pass. This is less of an issue on the Sightseeing pass as by choosing the number of attractions you are less pressured to cram stuff in than on the All-inclusive passes where the more you do the more you save.

The other side of this is planning too much. As the Price per attraction drops the more attractions you buy it’s tempting to buy more and cram a lot into your trip but this can be a mistake! There are only so many hours in the day and getting to and from attractions takes time and you are definitely going to want to do other things while in town such as eating, drinking, gambling, etc. It is best to plan in a Maximum of 2-3 attractions a day, and one evening attraction, if possible. Some attractions will easily take up a full half-day and some, such as the Grand Canyon Tour will eat an entire day. Plan accordingly and don’t try to cram too much in. The general rule is if you are worried it much be too much it probably is.

We have also said before in Vegas there are always ways to save money and few people pay FULL entry for anything, so the pass is probably not as great value as it first appears, but it can still be of great value, and as we said much easier than collating many different offers.

Finally, the Las Vegas Sightseeing pass is actually quite limited in the variety of attractions. We will explore this later but there are far fewer practical options than on the rival passes such as the Go Las Vegas Card or the Las Vegas Explorer Pass.

Do We need a Pass At All?

Not really, It all depends on the type of trip you want. If it’s all about partying Gambling and drinking then there is not much sense on buying a pass. However, even if you only plan to visit a couple of attractions using a pass can be a good way to save money.

What Attractions are included?

The most important part of any pass is the attractions. These should really appeal. You should look at the list and see several things that make you go, Wow I really want to do that. Even if you have never heard about it before if it has instant appeal then the pass could be a great way to go. If the list of attractions is of little interest to you it probably isn’t a good investment.

With that in mind, we will take an in-depth look at our favorite attractions on the Las Vegas Sightseeing Pass.

Covid-19 – The Pandemic has really taken a dump on Travel and there are far fewer attraction options available in town ATM. the loss of shows is a particular blow to the Sightseeing Pass

Premium Attractions

Unlike the Las Vegas Go Card, which also has a good list of fantastic Premium attractions, You are not limited to choosing one! With the Las Vegas Sightseeing Pass, you are able to choose ANY or indeed ALL of the Premium Attractions! this makes the pass very good value and the only real limit on the premium attractions is having time to fit them in! However, due to the pandemic, there are only 1-2 premium attractions listed on the Pass so this benefit has largely evaporated.

Grand Canyon South Rim Tour by Sweetours – $165 – Pre Book

The Grand Canyon is a very popular excursion from Las Vegas. While visiting one of the modern wonders of the world why not head out and see one of the natural wonders of the world? The only problem, while looking on a map the Canyon seems pretty close. In reality, it’s one hell of a trip. Most people take the easy option and visit the Hualapai “west” rim section of the Canyon. This is the tourist area and is to many, a disappointment. To reach the South Rim and the “real” canyon it is a 270+ Miles journey through the desert.

It is so worth it though! The size and color of the canyon at the distant South Rim is beyond description Even photos fail to do this justice. over a MILE deep and 18 Miles wide and carved from red and orange sandstone, it’s a jaw-dropping view. If anyone has told you they went to the Grand Canyon and it was ok. They went to the West Rim.

The Sweetours trip is a FULL day and it’s a long full day at that. Expect an early start and a nighttime return where all you will be seeking is a bed, and maybe a stiff drink or two. This is a great chance to really see one of the natural wonders of the world.

Sweetours Hoover Dam Bus Tour – $71 – Pre Book

Only included o the Day pass and of reasonably high value this just about counts as a premium. Much like the Grand Canyon tour, this is a long bus tour out into the desert this time takes you to the Hoover Dam.

If the thought of spending 10 hours on a bus fills you with dread but you still want to get out of the city and see some sights this is a much shorter and more compact tour with only 1 hour or so each way on the bus. The Dam needs little introduction and is a wonderful spectacle towering 660ft above the river below and holding back up to 9,198,470,824,231 Gallons, that’s over 9 trillion!

It’s a great little tour that gets you away from the city for around 5-6 hours with 2 hours+ exploring the dam.

Closed – Drifting Ride Along in a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat – 2 laps – $99 – Pre Book

This is a very expensive ride in a very fast and very powerful Musclecar, that is being driven by a complete hooligan! Two laps of an approx 2km track are not going to take very long at 120+mph and as such, this is very much a short but intense thrill ride.

The 700+hp hellcat is one hell of a beast and not many of us get to experience power such as this and in the hands of a professional driver, it is a ride of a lifetime. However, it’s a lot of money, I would certainly think long and hard if $99 was worth it, if it wasn’t included on the pass. It is a great opportunity to head over to the Las Vegas Speedway, and get your thrill on. You are bound to see a whole heap of fast cars on your visit and it is a really fun excursion for the petrol heads among you!

Standard Attractions

The Mob Museum – $29.95

We love the Mob Museum. Vegas Being Vegas, a fine art Museum would not go down too well, so instead we get a Museum dedicated to organized crime. Excellent. It really is one not to be missed.

Night Strip Tour – $69 – Pre Book

Enjoy a full sightseeing tour of the entire Las Vegas Strip. Starting with champagne at the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign and ending at the Freemont Street Light show it is a great way to see Vegas!

Axe Throwing Range – Axe Monkeys – $25

This is only found on the Sightseeing Pass and is a great fun little attraction. Really le of steam as you learn the art of Axe Throwing and skewer the targets with your lethal throwing awe. It takes a bit of getting used to but once you have the technique it is super satisfying!

Machine Guns Las Vegas Experience – AK47 – $49.99

Another Sightseeing Exclusive, the chance to get your hands on a real AK47 and let off some rounds at Machine Guns Las Vegas Shootin Range. We love shooting experiences in Vegas and they are pretty unique to the City being able to fire some of the world’s most iconic and best known weapons.

The one BIG drawback to this inclusion on the pass is you only get one gun and 25 rounds. That’s great but we doubt that’s going to be enough for you so expect to get the soft sell at the range to purchase more rounds and ammo for their huge range of firearms. Once you have fired the AK47 you are definitely going to want to try something else!

Is the Las Vegas Sightseeing Pass Worth it? – Costed Examples

With the very prices of the Attractions that are included on the Sightseeing Pass, it is very easy to see how easy it is to save a whole bunch of cash with the pass. However, we do see lower savings than might be possible with the Passes competitors which we look at later.

The best way to look at this is with a few examples.

As you can see choosing the Flex Pass means savings are modest, but $65 is still a good saving and it’s better in your pocket than anyone else’s. We have chosen popular attractions as opposed to the highest cost, so you could save even more if you picked higher-priced attractions but we have gone for our favs!

Day Pass 3 Day Pass ($56 Per Day)- 

The Day pass allows for much greater savings but you will still be limited by time more than anything else.

Day 1

Day one kicks off with some real tourist treats. Heading downtown on the Hop On Hop Off Bust then visiting the Amazing Mob Museum and a tour around the Freemont Street Experience. Finally back on the strip taking in the Madame Tussauds Exhibit that has some really Vegas-inspired Wax Works.

As the only premium option on the pass then we do recommend heading to the Grand Canyon, if this premium is not of interest to you, maybe this is not the right pass, see below for options. This is a long day and you are not going to have a chance to see anything else.

Day 3 focuses on some real fun, with the amazing AK47 Experience and then some Axe Throwing. Finally, in the evening you head out to see the city in its glorious evening dress as the VEgas lights really sparkle.

We really have been fairly light on this itinerary if you really tried you could fit in one or two more attractions on days 1 and 3, but we wanted to show just how easy it is without really trying hard.

You can see from these Examples the Savings can be very significant. But it does not answer the whole question. There is more to Value than just monetary Savings. The key part of the question is are the attractions worth the cost to visit. Are you going to visit them anyway? If so then it makes a whole heap of sense to get a pass and save potentially hundreds of dollars. You will be sure to find another way to spend those $ in Vegas!

Alternative Passes

There are several other Passes available in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Explorer Pass is similar to the Standard Flex pass, however, we think it has better more varied attractions and works out a little cheaper in most cases!

The Las Vegas Go Card is an All-Inclusive pass, meaning you can do as many attractions from the list as you like in the number of days you purchase. This pass also has Premium attractions* similar to the Flex Premium but you only get to choose one from the list, it is a bit cheaper though, and has a better choice of standard attractions!

*Premium Attractions only on 3, 4, and 5 Day Passes.

Basically, these passes cost about the same as the Sightseeing pass but their list of available attractions really puts the sightseeing pass to shame. The Sightseeing pass has some unique experiences and if these really suit you then the pass is worth considering but on the whole, there is just So much more on the Go City Pass and this extra choice does not come at an extra cost. Overall we much prefer these line-ups and as such we prefer the Passes.

Conclusion

Overall we like the Las Vegas sightseeing pass but the attraction lust is just too limited compared to its rivals. There are just too many must-sees not listed and the Premium Line up of the Go City Las Vegas Pass is now back to its best. There are just so many choices that really will make your trip better.

However, there are a few unique attractions on the Sightseeing pass, and if these appeal more to you than the Go City line up that is always going to be the deciding factor. All the Las Vegas Passes work really well and you are sure to save a packet so choose the pass that has the attractions most suited to your personal tastes.

Last Updated Feb 2022 – two successful upgrades!

First a stunning revelation. It’s not a trick, it is just tipping in advance. It’s a very common and accepted practice in Las Vegas and helps the Hotel out in a number of ways. Our blog on the $20 Dollar Trick Las Vegas 2022 will explain what the “trick” is, how it works, and what to expect if you try it. No Magic or shady handshakes, just sensible negotiation…Sorry for the outlandish introduction…

What is the $20 Dollar Trick?

The Trick originated in the form of a $20 sandwich. Essentially, when checking in to a Las Vegas Hotel you need 2 things. A Credit Card and some form of ID. When Asked for these items you Sandwich a $20 bill between the two while politely enquiring if there is any chance of a complimentary upgrade?

In the past, the Clerk would simply say nothing about the note and check to see if they could bump you up. And if so inclined would provide you with a free room upgrade. They would obviously keep the note as a tip. Of course, it’s now 2023 and Las Vegas now charges for parking, is looking to end free drinks, and Vegas’s freebies are fast drying up. So have things changed?

Does the $20 Dollar Trick Still Work?

Often Yes. It worked nearly every time we have tried. We also hear of the trick working time and time again. Really it’s pretty simple. The Clerks are authorized to make minor adjustments to your room allocation and often it’s helpful to the hotel to upgrade people as they overbook basic rooms. Naturally, the Clerks are the ones checking people in and they are naturally going to reward those who will tip them highly.

There is also the added notion from the hotel’s perspective that guests that save on one aspect usually spend heavier on others. So a happy guest saving $150 on a room will be more likely to spend that in the Casino or bar or on Activities. This is why the Hotels have never acted on discouraging the Clerks from doing this.

Still Only $20?

You can try more. The trick has been around for AGES and $20 is worth less than it used to be. But still, we find it’s enough. A bigger tip is unlikely to help secure a bigger or better upgrade as they are not really supposed to bump you up too high. It’s also unlikely to convince someone to bump you up if they were not going to anyway. If they simply can’t due to overbooking nothing will help. As such we stick to the traditional $20, if the clerk is unusually helpful, nice, or just fun, we may give an additional tip just for that.

Of course, as you move up in the quality of the hotel and even the class of room you booked, the more likely it is you may need to bump the tip-up. In high-end hotels like Bellagio, it might be a good idea to up your tip, or if you have booked a very expensive room, to begin with, $20 might not be enough to get you anything better as the price difference is greater.

What sort of Upgrade can I expect?

Well if you have chosen the most basic room available don’t expect a sky-loft off a $20 tip. Realistically expect a single-class upgrade. In the past, we have heard stories of incredible room bumps for $20 but never seen these corroborated and Vegas just isn’t as loose as it used to be.

What to do if it doesn’t work.

Not a lot. Usually, they will simply tell you there is nothing available and hand back the money. It is likely the hotel is really full and there is just nothing they can do. They may offer you a paid upgrade, which you can obviously make a decision on, if you do take them up on this they are not really doing you a favor so just tip as you usually would.

Will they just keep the tip and not upgrade?

They could! We have heard third or fourth-hand stories of this happening. This is not a Bribe it’s a tip so the Assistant is in no way obliged to do anything extra for the tip if you present it upfront. We have however NEVER had it happen to us. And never heard it directly from anyone who has had it happen to them. We sincerely doubt it has ever happened and the people in question just didn’t get as big an upgrade as they wanted.

How We Do it.

We never actually hand the money over first. We just make it very clear if they do hook us up the money we are holding will be theirs. This isn’t a “trick” anymore. It’s an accepted way of doing things, both you and the clerks know this, as does the management. Until it’s shut down from the top it will continue. So there is no need to mess about with clandestine passes of the money out of the eyes of the “bosses”. Just be upfront and ask for an upgrade with $20 in your hand. It removes the Awkwardness of them handing back the cash if they cannot help.

We find a warm friendly demeanor, with lots of smiles and conversation a very good additional tactic. These are people, of course, and people always respond better to polite friendly people. We know this can be hard after a long hard flight but never underestimate how far being nice will get you! As we said, these are people, just like you…who would you be more likely to give an upgrade to?

As the old saying goes, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, and besides, we should just all be nicer to each other.

VERY IMPORTANT!

It is also VERY important to prepare for this NOT to work. It might not. And you do not want to be stuck in an unbearable room. ALWAYS book the minimum level of room you will tolerate and use the trick to try and get better. If being stuck in a tiny old cramped room will ruin your trip don’t rely on this trick to get you out of a hole. Book the room you want and hope you can get better.

Too many people think this is a catch-all trick and they will receive a top room all for a $20 tip to the check-in clerk. It’s just not going to happen. Book at least the room you want and can afford then see if you can get a bump up. You need to approach with an air of realism. They are not giving things away anymore

For years it’s been an open secret that Las Vegas Casinos give Free Drinks to Customers who are gambling, be it at the slot machines or while the table games. But New Comers to Vegas struggles with this concept, We certainly did when we first arrived. But the “Myth” is still alive and kicking and is still one of the few freebies you can readily expect. Sure Veterans may scoff at this question but really for those that haven’t been, it’s a really odd concept!

But rest assured if you are Gambling in Las Vegas any drinks ordered from one of the circling cocktail waitresses is completely complimentary.

You do need to be actively playing though and a tip is expected (and only fair) by the waitress. We go into a little more detail as to what to expect how to go about getting your free drinks and even show you the best places to grab cheap drinks without playing!

Update – Get Ready for big changes – Automated Drink Monitoring Systems!

For some time now a System has been in place on the bar top Video Poker Machines. These systems ensured that players were playing enough and often enough to deserve a drink. Well, now the suspected changes are coming to Las Vegas Casino Slot Machines.

Currently, underway at the Westgate Casino are new Slot Machines that automatically monitor the amount and rate of play to ensure you are earning your drinks! This is bad news for freeloaders hoping to bag something for nothing, as sitting there with a $ in the machine waiting for the Waitress will no longer cut it. However, the news is the limits will be fairly low and most people who are actually gambling will be unaffected.

It remains to be seen how this will actually play out in practice. The Machines now in the Westgate are pretty awesome though. Once you reach your Comp level and a free drink is due, you can order direct from the machine. Your order coming straight over from the bar.

As of Jan 2021, The only Casino in Vegas to be trialing the system is the Westgate so it’s business as usual elsewhere but expect these systems to be rolled out soon especially into 2021 and beyond as this will probably have a big effect on the Casino’s costs while casting off the freeloaders all at once!  We have been known to acquire the odd drink in the past that we maybe didn’t deserve, but on the whole, we are normally gambling.

We are very eager to see what sort of limits are set on the machines and how much you need to feed in to get that drink!

EDIT – We are pleased to say on our last trip in 2023 the majority of Casino’s still operated the old-style system and we got scores of free drinks while never gambling more than a few $ at a time.

Ok Back to the Free Drinks

You need to be a high Roller though, Right?

Not At all! Even playing the very cheapest penny slots if you can catch the eye of a circulating cocktail waitress she will gladly take your order and deliver a drink to your machine free of charge. It is not her job to regulate the drinks to gamble ratio.

Is there a catch?

Yes and No. There is no catch really but the reality is you are gambling and that really means you are losing money and the casino is gaining, in the long run, they will take FAR more than your well spirits are costing them.

Do I tip the Cocktail Waitress?

Of Course, what are you a cheapskate? You are getting free drinks! And if you want more than one definitely Tip them as they will give you a wide berth next time round if not. It doesn’t need to be a lot. $2-3 a drink is fine. If they have provided a good service, or if you have won anything, or not lost too much consider a little more at the end. If you have spent all the kid’s inheritance on a Britney Spears Machine they will probably understand if you save your last few dollars!

Some people report great success with tipping BIG on the first drink, hence catching their attention and making them keen to return to get more big tips. It is worth a try but in all honesty, they have seen it all and after getting $1 for the second drink they will be on to you. Like most “myths” in vegas, we find it best to be upfront and just tip $2-3 per drink.

It is worth saying Tipping is not “required” and we have even accidentally received drinks only to realize we have no cash on us, the waitress didn’t care really, although we didn’t see another drink off her that evening. But you are getting free drinks, and they are getting minimum wage, do the right thing.

What Can I order?

You can order what you like! Within reason, of course. Stick to simple cocktails, spirits with a mixer, or wine and beer. We tend to order Vodka Martini’s as they make us feel like we are in Vegas. But anything simple like that is fine. Really they will get you whatever you order but they are unlikely to deliver top-shelf unless you really are laying down the Green chips ($25) on a BlackJack Table. If so feel free to order what the hell you want.

Be warned the wine may not be the best wine in the world…That’s why we stick to Spirits and Cocktails, a Bad Martini is far more drinkable than a bad wine!

What is the Best Strategy?

Assuming you are not dropping big money on a high minimum table, where the waitress will certainly seek you out. We assume you are looking for the best strategy to get the most drinks for the minimum gambling. The first thing to note is that even on the penny slots you are unlikely to get enough drinks to cover your losses unless of course, you win! But you can maximize your drink rewards without spending large sums.

It’s important you are playing a game you like, just throwing money into any old machine will not be enjoyable. If you don’t have a favorite then now is a good opportunity to try a few. Choosing the right casino helps too, we get very little out of the big casinos, and a lot more from the smaller older establishments.

The first thing to do is scout out the cocktail waitresses. Try and work out their route. and find a machine or game on that route so they will pass you by. Then just be patient, throw some money in and play but play slowly, there is no rush. Playing for time is key. So make sure you have a lot of spins, play lower denominations so you get more spins for your money.

Eventually, the waitress will come over and take your order, she will wander off taking a few more orders before going to the bar for your drinks. In no time at all she will return with your order and simply ask for no money, she will pause just long enough to allow you to tip. Please be generous, the drink is free so a $2 tip is nothing

And that’s really all there is to it. It’s not a big trick or a secret, but if you haven’t experienced it before, it can seem very odd that someone will just bring you drinks for playing the slots.

Best Casino’s in Las Vegas for Free Drinks

The Big casinos tend not to rely too much on the lure of free drinks to get people in and often the drinks are slower in these casinos. Not always, but often. The below Casino’s are the locations we have had the most success with free drinks. We have had drinks in just about every casino ins the City, but at these, you usually get several, very quickly.

Flamingo – is our top choice. Drinks flow very freely in here, even on the penny slots.

Casino Royale – Another great choice and remember drinks are only $2 here anyway if you don’t get any service.

New York New York – We are not sure why as the New York New York doesn’t really fit the other profiles but we always get loads when playing here, maybe just good luck.

Bally’s – Central Casino with lots of local competition so needs to keep player sweet.

The Linq – Similar to bally’s and we always get lots of free drinks in here, a great place to get ready for a High Roller Happy Hour.

Hooters – A great choice for relaxed gambling and the free drinks often flow. Low Table Mins make this a great place to try some table games and drinks always flow on the tables.

Fremont Street/Downtown – Any of the Downtown Casino’s are great for free drinks.

The casino is saying “Good Boy/Girl keep on gambling” like you would when offering treats to a dog! Really you should want to be gambling anyway and just enjoy the free drinks as an extra, to help soothe the losses, not as an enticement to play more. Work out a budget beforehand per day for gambling and never go above it! think of this budget as your payment for entertainment! Getting free drinks is a way to make that budget stretch a bit further, nothing more!

Las Vegas Casino Reward Schemes

One of the first things to do is sign up for one of the reward schemes the Las Vegas Casinos offer. There are two big hitters M-Life and Total Rewards.

M-Life is the MGM Resorts Loyalty scheme, use this in any MGM Resort Hotel and Casino to earn Reward points from Gambling and tier points on ANY spend in the Resorts or Casinos. Tier points add up to give you better benefits and perks whereas reward credit can actually be redeemed against real rewards such as free rooms, meals, and Gambling credit.

Total Rewards is the Ceasers Entertainment Reward Scheme and works pretty much the same as M-Life only for CET properties.

Which to get?

This largely depends on where you are staying and where you plan to shop, eat, and play. Definitely sign up for the reward scheme for the Casino you are planning on staying in. So if you are in an MGM Property, Get the M-life card, and if you are Staying in a Ceasers Property get a Total Rewards card. Really Signing up for a Reward scheme is free and as far as we are concerned, it has very few downsides, so we advise just signing up for both. If you don’t use them, you have not really lost anything.

Let’s take a look at Specific Parts of a trip and see how to save money on each, Trying to keep this in the order you experience these on a trip.

Saving money on Getting to Las Vegas

USA

One of the Cheapest ways to get to Vegas is actually flying in. Major Carriers such as Delta and American have regular flights in and out of Vegas, Maccaran Airport is a very busy hub with flights continuously ferrying in people from all across America. As such flights a cheap quick and regular.

We tend to use flight aggregator sites such as Skyscanner.net to find the cheapest flights for our dates.

Of course, for anyone in the neighboring states(or further!) a road trip there is one of the best ways to get there, just jump in the car and hit the road. Road links to Las Vegas are fantastic Large interstates carve their way through the desert. There is not much to see on the way but L.A. to Vegas is around 4-5 hours on the I-15 or alternatively take the long route and see Death Valley on the way.

Really it’s rare we head to Vegas without incorporating some type of road trip. The Big Issue with taking your car is the parking charges that have crept into Vegas Casinos (Currently Waved due to the pandemic). This can cost more per trip than the flight into the City from certain airports. These can be as little as $39 and make the $12 a-day parking charges cost more than the flights!

As we almost always hit Vegas as part of a Roadtrip we tend to be tactical about when we rent a car. If we are staying in Vegas for the first part of the trip we don’t hire the car straight away but instead, get around using Uber/the Deuce and then pick the hire car up as we leave town. Likewise, if we are driving to Vegas and Flying out, we drop the car off at the airport first thing and navigate Vegas carless. We find even if we have a car in Vegas it spends so much of its time just in the parking garages as we are too drunk to drive most of the time!

Outside the US?

If you are heading in from outside the states, the big decision is whether to book a package or a flight and Hotel Separately. As we said before Vegas is normally, for us, part of a two+week trip that includes a road trip elsewhere, as well as a stay in Vegas, as much as we love Vegas more than a week would leave us broken and poor, even with the money-saving tricks we have!

On this basis, we pretty much always Book flights directly and then book hotels separately. For this, we will use a flight aggregator such as Skyscanner and then a booking site that offers FREE Cancellations, usually Booking.com.  Booking a trip like this means you are not as well covered in the event of a cancellation so having Free Cancellation really helps cover yourself, along with adequate travel insurance.

However, there are plenty of great Package trips available especially if you are just heading for a week. We love Virgin Holidays, But shop around BA, TUI, And any other Travel agent to get the best deal.

Saving Money on Getting Around Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a pretty easy city to get about. The best way to save money is just Walking. However, be warned things can be a lot further away than you think. The Duece is the best way to get about distances further than your feet will carry you and is especially useful for getting to Down Town. At only $8 a day, it won’t break the bank.

Rather than using Taxi’s, we tend to plump for Uber or Lyft which are more convenient and cheaper. The more time we spend in Vegas the more and more we use Uber / Lyft. In fact, the last few times we were in town it is basically ALL we used. The speed, low price, and convenience pretty much make this our go-to 99% of the time!

Saving Money on Hotels in Las Vegas

This is potentially your biggest expense while on vacation and as such the best chance to save substantial money. But Scrimping too much on a hotel might mean missing out on some of that essential Vegas Vibe. You could save hundreds (actually less than you might think, however) by checking into an off-strip budget motel, but really we don’t feel this is getting the Full Vegas experience, for that you need an On Strip Mega Casino/Hotel. Read more about that here.

Fortunately, Vegas hotels are actually really cheap! When you consider the quality, amenities, room size, views location, etc… they are really quite a bargain! When you consider hotel costs in Cities such as New York, Chicago, etc… they really are a steal. Depending on the time of your stay and how busy the period is then Rooms in some of the top hotels can be had for under $200 a night.

Ok, that is not “cheap” Cheap but it’s stunning Value, and if you go down the chain a little. Even rooms in MGM Grand, The Mirage, and Planet Holywood, all excellent Hotels in prime locations, Rooms can be snagged for under $100. Venture slightly off-strip or down the far ends to hotels such as Mandalay Bay and Rio can be had for similar cash. And drop to the low end such as Excaliber, New York, New York or the Flamingo and prices plunge even further, and these are still better than grotty $200 a night New York Dives!

We stick to our favorite Hotel Aggregator Booking.com. On top of the excellent FREE Cancellation, they are often one of the cheapest out there.

We also use My Vegas as a way to claim free rooms. Exchange your “gold” for one of the free room perks and then book the rest of your stay to follow on from it. At check-in simply mention this and they will combine the bookings. We recently booked a Spa Suite in MGM Grans and one of the free nights via My Vegas and at check-in a well-placed $20 tip got our FREE room upgraded to the Spa Suite we were booked in for the rest of our Stay!

Saving money on Food in Las Vegas

Food in Las Vegas is hugely varied from ultra-fine dining down to bargain food courts, Fast food outlets, and everything in between. It’s not hard to save money on food in Vegas just by hitting the cheaper restaurants. But we can go further. We have a selection of Great Groupon offers above for a start. Buffets are expensive but you can eat as much food as you like and really you can probably eat for a day ( week!) from just one buffet!

We also always use a My Vegas Reward to claim a free dinner buffet. It’s hard to beat eating all you want in a top Buffet for literally nothing!

Cheap eats can always be found in the form of Fast food from normal establishments, most casinos have a food court where you can grab a cheap meal any time of the day. We tend to use these when food isn’t important, we are just hungry, and use Groupon and My Vegas to give us some free or heavily reduced options in between.

Saving money on Drinks in Las Vegas

Drinking is a huge part of Las Vegas Culture, and if you are not careful this could end up being your biggest expense, even if you don’t drink much. With cocktails at $30 and beers at $15, your bar bills can get big. High Rollers and big spenders take pride in racking up giant bills but for the more modest visitor snagging some cheap drinks is essential!

Drink for Free!

It doesn’t get much cheaper than free! For the time being at least, you can still get free drinks while gambling in Vegas. We compiled a full guide to the current and potential future of Las Vegas’ free drinks. Remember these are not completely free as you will be spending money on Gambling, but if you were going to do this anyway then they count as free…Plus, who knows you could actually WIN!

Happy Hours

Like most USA Cities Happy hours are always a great way to grab cheap drinks. Always look out for Happy hours, and expect to find half-price drinks or 2 for 1, etc… One of our favorites is the 107 Sky Lounge at the top of the stratosphere which has a 2 for 1 on cocktails every day 3-7 pm and 11 pm-3 am. This also gets you free access to the Stratosphere observation deck. Incredible drinks and incredible views!

Pools

if you are wanting to spend a day by the pool then you are likely to want a few drinks, this will not be cheap! At the big resorts expect to pay around $8 – $12 for domestic and $35+ for a bucket(5) of beers and cocktails can be upwards of $30…Ouch

But all is not lost! Most pools allow you to take in your own drinks…sort of! You are not going to be allowed to rock up with a six-pack or a bottle of wine. But you can usually bring in an outside drink if it’s in a plastic cup. Lots of pools also provide plastic cups for you to transfer your drink into. It’s not ideal as once your drink is finished then you are going to need to head back to the room to refill! but it can be better than paying the poolside prices or at least soften the blow.

Remember you can buy one of the giant 48oz Margaritas from the many vendors such as Senior frogs, ‘Tacos and Rita’s (check out Groupon Above), or Fat Tuesdays. These should keep you going for a good while and can easily be refilled back in your room!

Most hotels have now restricted this to drinks bought from the vendor associated with their hotel, which is a bit of a pain, but most hotels will have a vendor selling large drinks that you can then refill in your room!

Street Drinks / Pre Drinks

Las Vegas has very strange drinking laws. It is perfectly legal to enter a convenience store and purchase Beer, only to walk outside and crack it open on the street. You can even head into a Casino with it and sit down and play!

This is known as an open container Law and these are lacking in Las Vegas and on the strip. This means you are free to have an open alcohol container and to drink from it at your leisure! However for safety reasons, this does not include Glass, but as long as it’s an aluminum can or plastic glass you are good to go. Assuming you are 21 or over. You are also not allowed open containers on public transport.

Saving Money on Gambling in Las Vegas

Unfortunately, the best way to save money on Gambling is not to! However, most people want to try at least a little bit of gambling while in Sin City. Our Beginner Gambling guide will show you how to have a go at Gambling without losing your Shirt.

Gambling is also one way to earn free anything in Vegas. Shows, Hotel Rooms, Food, Drink, and anything the casino offers can be comped if you put enough over the tables. But this is a false economy. It will cost you many times over the value of your comp to earn it. And while it is possible you will clean up on the Roulette wheel and claim your free stuff (Comps are based on spending not profit) the chances are you will lose everything and the comped stuff will be a scant reward. Gamble only because you want to and can afford the losses, chasing comps is a real mug’s game!

It is also worth mentioning that one of the My Vegas Rewards is Gambling Credit, $10, $25, or $50 of credit for you to play in a casino of your choice. Although you will have to stay in an MGM Property (1,2 or3 Nights) to redeem this reward. This is literally Free money, Whatever you win on the Free Credit is yours to withdraw and spend on whatever you like.

One of Our Favourite Ways to Save Money is with an Attraction Pass. As we have mentioned above Group-On is a great way to save on attractions but it’s quite a hassle hunting out all the best deals, purchasing individually, and carrying around printouts and vouchers. With an attraction pass, it’s one simple purchase and then you use your pass either as a printout or from your phone and save potentially hundreds of dollars on attractions.

Saving money on Las Vegas Shows

Dinner and a show is a great way to spend an evening in Vegas. Like most things, Groupon and My Vegas can be the answer here. Free tickets to KA, Love, Fantasy, Zumanity and a few others can all be got through My Vegas rewards. And there are several shows available through Groupon.

The Las Vegas Go Card, Las Vegas Explorer Pass, and the Las Vegas Sightseeing Pass all have quite a few shows available as attractions choices. These are especially good on the all-inclusive passes if you don’t really know what to expect from a Vegas show. They offer a low-risk reward where you can simply try out a show and see if you like it without having to spend $100’s on a ticket.

Tix4tonight offers Half-Price Tickets to all the major shows. The only caveat is you will have to buy them on the day. They deal with unsold tickets and flog them off to get people through the door. The big issue with this is you will be limited to what is left over. There are no Guarantees. If a particular show is important to you book in advance as if there is no availability you are out of luck. Really these are no longer the best way to get discounted tickets anymore and we have better luck buying in advance or using My Vegas.

Finally, BEWARE!!!

You are likely to be offered Discount Tickets for both Shows and Attractions directly on the street. Either by Discount Sellers or, most likely, Time-Share Sharks.

The Discount Sellers may be reasonably reputable, or may just be looking to scam you, tbh we like to have everything in place before hitting town so just don’t worry about this. However, the Time-Share Sharks are a different beast.

These will engage you in Idle Chatter, “Hey Guys! where are you from?”, before offering you far too good to be true deals such as free Tickets, Free Helicopter Tours or, Free meals and Buffets. They seem friendly but are masters of hard sell and these Free and discounted activities are only there as bait to rob you of the most valuable commodity in Vegas, Your TIME!

All they want is to get you to sign up for a 1-hour or so Time-Share presentation. Honestly, it seems like a good deal, a little bit of your vacation time for a Free show, Helicopter Tour, or such and such. Honestly, by this point, you have already wasted too much time on them. WALK AWAY.

But say they are really nice and their offering is just too good to be true. So you sign up for the freebie! Is it Legit, Will you get your reward, or is this a huge scam? Well, forget the 1-hour or whatever they promised. You are here for the long haul. You will get your reward normally, but only at the end and that’s hours of ultra-hard sell-away! Whatever you negotiated as your freebie was not worth this torture.

We do not really know if these Time-Shares are a good product, but if they are we are sure doing your research at home and signing up for the best option is a far better choice than being steamrolled into it off Las Vegas Boulevard.

NO ONE in Vegas wants to talk to you unless they are selling you something, Smile Politely, Answer questions concisely, and DO NOT BREAK YOUR STRIDE! As soon as you stop they have you!

Saving money on Shopping in Las Vegas

Vegas may not be the most obvious shopping destination in the world but America’s Love Affair with the Shops is certainly well represented. Any Brand worth knowing about is represented in Vegas and you can shop till you drop in a number of huge malls such as the Forum Shops or the Fashion Show Mall. However, while these shops will all have offers and ways to save they are no different really to your standard hometown Mall, Just bigger and a bit more Vegassy!

However, Bargain hunters will have a great time at Las Vegas North Premium Outlets. Outlet shopping is big across the states and the Las Vegas Premium North Outlets are one of the best in the country. With over 175 Stores with some of the biggest and well-known brands in the world, it is bound to have something for everyone.

Outlet Mall Shopping can be hit or miss but when the offers are good they can be staggering sometimes up to 60-75% off major brands. It is not likely to be the LATEST item. after all, that’s why they are in the outlets, but it’s still top-quality items at seriously slashed prices.

There are also the Las Vegas South Premium Outlets which are fine just not as big as the North Outlets.

The Las Vegas strip looks pretty incredible from any location, be it on the strip itself, your high-level hotel room, the High Roller, or even a distant view of the skyline. But for the ULTIMATE view, you have to take to the air. Soaring over the Las Vegas strip is real Bucket list stuff, and as such, it’s important to get it right so we take a look at all the Best helicopter tours in Las Vegas, Which tours to take, and Who to fly with. We can assure you this is an experience you will never forget as you soar over the dazzling bright lights of Las Vegas!

Flight Routes and experiences

There are 3 main experiences available from Las Vegas, each company will have several variants and additions of these but they all boil down to 3 main flight paths. We will take a look at these before diving into the different operators.

Vegas Strip Helicopter Tours

This is the basic and cheapest option, ranging from $80-$120 and 12-15 mins in duration. Most of these are night-time flights to get the full effect of the strip, while some companies offer Daytime trips we find the strip is just so much more spectacular at night.

The Trips are pretty simple, Take off from Harry Reid International, head up the strip, take in the bright lights of Las Vegas, and Past the Stratosphere for a close look. Loop around Downtown Las Vegas and head back down the strip to the Heliport.

The whole thing takes about 12-15mins but you get to see pretty much all of Vegas, the strip is not huge and even at the reduced airspeeds the choppers fly, there really isn’t much else to see.

The experience is a typical Vegas Cheap Thrill. Get up, take it all in, and back down to earth, with a lighter wallet, all before you know it. But we don’t mean this as a bad thing. These trips are for many the absolute highlight of their Vegas trip. Vegas at night is like nothing on earth and seeing it from the air is a real lifetime experience.

There are some inherent downsides to this tour, however, and it is not easily remedied. Vegas is the home of Gambling, but we “bet” you didn’t think you would be gambling when you booked your Helicopter tour! The problem is the Las Vegas Airspace is insanely busy, with 50+ helicopters doing tours of the strip every hour, along with constant arrivals and departures from Harry Reid International, plus 2 other airports and a USAF Base all within a ten-mile radius, it is seriously busy up there.

So the FAA keeps Helicopter traffic simple. Any of the Las Vegas Strip Tours ALL take the same route. It does not matter which company you choose. They all head the same way. From the airport, they head north with the strip on the left-hand side of the Chopper. At Downtown Vegas it’s a 180° turn and back down the opposite side of the strip, again with the strip to the left.

See the problem? With the EC130 Helicopter layout, anyone in the front or back Left Seats is going to have a heck of a view. Those stuck in the Rear right-hand seats, well it’s pretty sh$$y! It is not as bad as you may fear, the Rear seats are elevated (Stadium Seating) above the front so you can see over the Pilot and front-seat passengers, but it’s not as cool and clear as from the front. You still get a great view of the Strip, but there is that nagging feeling of being shortchanged. You know you are just not getting as good an experience as the other guests!

The Seat selection is also “Random”. The operators will tell you, Over and Over, that the selection is based on weights and balances assigned by the computer. This is rubbish. On our last outing the Pilot said: “You two in the front“, to a nice couple we were flying with, “and one other in the front?” With my camera in hand, I jumped at that. “And the other 3 in the back, however, you like!” Weights and Balances… Yeah right.

This is a cover as they KNOW they are short-changing couples or groups by stuffing them in the worst seats, They KNOW people are going to kick back and as such use the weight and balances computer argument. Sorry, but as a Private Pilot, it doesn’t wash. The Choppers can easily handle any load configuration any set group of people is going to throw at them. Come on; these are multi-million$ Aircraft with a 1000hp Turbojet engine, Do you think they can’t handle a fat (or skinny) kid sitting in the wrong place?!

There are a few ways around this, Maverick Private Hire is almost the same price as 4x passengers. If there are 4 or more of you just hire the whole Chopper! Sundance and Pallipan let you reserve the front seats for $25 each, it’s a bit of a con, but if you want great seats guaranteed it’s the only way. YOU CANNOT CHOOSE between right and left in the rear!

Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours

With the Grand Canyon Tours, the seat position is less important. Front seats are better, as you get the pilot’s eye view, but really in an EC130 there is little to worry about, the rear seat view is mindblowing. As the Canyon rears up on both sides the view is staggering, although any strip flyover will be subject to the same restrictions as the stip-only tours.

Grand Canyon Helicopter tours are the top-end tours and the ones we all aspire to, there can be nothing more magical than flying down into the Grand Canyon, Celebrating with Champagne, and then soaring back to Las Vegas. These tours are serious bucket list experiences, but they come at a cost!

Prices start at $550 (from Las Vegas) and for this, you get a flight over some incredible terrain, a landing inside the West Rim, a Plastic cup of California Champagne, and some basic snacks (think crisps, maybe a sandwich!) and finally a flight back and over the strip.

When put like that it may sound pretty unappealing, but the landscape is one of utter beauty. The Desert that surrounds las Vegas has a real rugged appeal, backed by towering mountains, once aloft it really is beautiful. Vegas itself from the air is like nothing on earth and the stunning blueness of Lake Mead and the fiery reds of the valley of fire contrast starkly with the endless beiges of the desert. It is a wonderful place to take a helicopter flight. Then there is the Canyon itself.

The West Rim is where most Helicopter tours will take you. This is one of the most beautiful and stunning canyons on earth, however, it actually falls well short of another location. Namely the South Rim of the grand canyon! This part of the Canyon just cannot hold a candle to its bigger sister but the south rim lies 280 miles away from Las Vegas and is not practical for a helicopter flight from Las Vegas (see below for some tour ideas). So what you get from Vegas is the West Rim.

From above it is still incredibly vast, a giant scar carved into the earth and as you descend down into the canyon the sheer walls rise up and devour you. From the landing sites at the banks of the Colorado River, we can assure you, that thoughts about this being a lesser canyon will be far from your mind!

If you are looking for that ultimate Vegas Experience, one to share with your loved one and build memories that will last a Lifetime there is little better than a Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour, We know they are costly but this is proper Bucket list stuff and you do get quite a bit for your money.

Red Rock Canyon Helicopter Tours

The Red Rock Canyon flights sit somewhere in between the two. A bit more costly than a Vegas Strip flight and not quite as spectacularly as the Grand Canyon. If you want the Grand Canyon but looking to save money this is a poor substitute and will always feel like settling. But in reality, it is a unique and fun experience, less touristy than the Grand Canyon, you get to see one of Las Vegas’s very special rock formations and overlook Vegas for a place very few get to see. Combined with a flight down the strip after dark.

This is more for people wanting an upgraded experience from the Vegas Strip Tour, this gives you Vegas, Vegas, and More Vegas, the view from the canyon landing sights is seriously special, and watching Vegas come alive a night is unforgettable.

Options

Most operators will offer a host of options, such as Meal deals, Shows, and other add-ons. On the whole, these are not always great value and you really are paying for the convenience.

We normally book separately if we want a Helicopter, Dinner, and a Show as we find doing our own thing gives us the freedom to really just do exactly as we want. Why be limited to the show and restaurants they are offering when you have ALL of Vegas to choose from?

One exception to this is the Skywalk add-ons to the Grand Canyon Tours. This will include two landings, Top and bottom, and access to the Skywalk Attraction and usually lunch.

This gives you a really all-inclusive experience of the West Rim, you can get out and explore the canyon from the top, and walk along the glass floor of the Skywalk. It is not entirely necessary as quite frankly after viewing the Canyon from a chopper, any other view is a letdown really. But if you want to tick EVERY box this is a good option.

Best Las Vegas Helicopter Tour Operators

There is a good choice of operators, which helps keep competition healthy and prices low. The flights are all very similar as they are restricted by the FAA and clearance from Harry Reid Tower, Las Vegas’s airspace is VERY busy. The main differences are cost, the type of helicopter used, and any added extras.

The Other differentiation is the base, the big operators all fly out of Harry Reid International’s heliports, but there are some smaller operators who fly from North Las Vegas Airport.

Harry Reid International Airport

The Big three all fly out of Harry Reid International Airport. This has a distinct advantage that you are on the strip right away, as soon as you lift off you are at the golden towers of the Mandalay Bay, and the entire flight time is over the strip. This can lead to shorter flights, but you get the whole strip, all of the time. From North Las Vegas there is a little flight time to get to the strip, and they miss a bit out to avoid the heavy congestion around McCarran.

The Home bases are bigger and glitzier, and the fleets are generally newer top-end helicopters, The Airport is much easier to get to from most strip hotels and the companies often offer free pick-up from most locations.

Maverick Helicopters #1

These are the big boys in Las Vegas. Their fleet is huge and their home terminal is a shiny modern complex that processes customers in a fast and efficient way. Expect a glass of champagne upon arrival and free hotel pick-up from anywhere on the strip.

The Fly Exclusively in the EC/HC 130 Eco-Star helicopters which are modern Aircraft with impeccable safety records, perfect for tourist flights. They sit 4 across the back and 2 to 3 in the front with the Pilot. The windows are large and even the worst seat still gets a good view, although you may feel hard done by if you are right in the back-right seat!

The company is very professional and provides an efficient and well-oiled service, although it can feel a little cold and a bit impersonal seeing as you are one of many customers they will be flying that day!

Best Flight Experiences from Maverick

• Las Vegas Strip Tour – $104 per person
• Las Vegas Strip Tour – Private Flight – $498 up to 6 people!
• WindDancer – Grand Canyon – $ 469 per person ($499 Sunset)

The Vegas Strip tour is a basic flight up and down the strip, it is nothing fancy but the spectacular Vegas Strip at night is more than enough and this certainly feels pretty magical. If there are 4 or more of you in the group then the private Flight ensures you have the chopper to yourself and will get the best seats!

The WindDancer Tour is Mavericks Grand Canyon Experience. This flight takes you out via Hoover Dam and Lake mead to Mavericks private landing site inside the west rim, where light snacks and a “glass” of champagne are served.

Maverick’s Landing site is not the best of the bunch, it is quite high above the river so doesn’t feel quite as inside as others, but the views down the canyon are still utterly mindblowing

After leaving, you fly through the canyon a short way before heading back over the Valley of Fire. The final part of the trip takes the standard pass over the strip. If you take the Sunset option the flight back with be during sunset with incredibly beautiful colors and the Vegas stip coming alive in all its nighttime glory!

Grand Canyon South tours with Maverick Helicopters

The West Rim is a truly incredible place, however, it is NOT the best part of the Canyon. The South rim is even more stunning, and its scale is hard to fathom, up to 18 miles wide, a mile deep, and filled with colors of unthinkable beauty. The problem is the South Rim and the Grand Canyon National Park are a LONG way from Vegas, too far for a helicopter, and 5+ hour 560+ mile journey by Coach or Car.

Papillion Helicopters

Papillion is one of the oldest operators flying out of Las Vegas, They also operate out of Boulder Airport, a short drive from Las Vegas, or with free Limo pickup, this will add a good two hours to any trip so make sure you know where you are flying from.

Papillon is best known for its Grand Canyon Tours and this is where they shine. Their Base is one of the largest at McCarran (shared with Atlantic Aviation) and can process a large number of people, and can feel a little like a cattle market.

Best Flight Experiences from Papillion

• Las Vegas Strip Night Flight – $99 per person
• Golden Eagle with Vegas Strip – $378.99 per person
• Grand Celebration with Las Vegas Strip – $448.99 per person ($474 Sunset)

Papillion’s Landing site in the Cayon is the best of the bunch, it is much lower than the others and has stunning views up and down the canyon along with the quartermaster tributary. Being so low the Canyon walls really tower above you and you get a real feeling of the incredible scale of the Canyon.

watch out for trips from Boulder City, they are considerably cheaper but you miss out on the Las Vegas Strip and instead require a 50-mile round trip by car, limo, or bus. We much prefer flying out of Vegas, but if you only want to experience the canyon and want to save a few $ these are a good choice.

The Golden Eagle With Las Vegas trip is a purely airborne experience. Jump in the Chopper, fly to the canyon, and take a look at the incredible wonder by air only, for many landing inside the canyon is all part of the experience but seeing it from the air is the main course really and this option saves time and money!

Helicopter Tours from North Las Vegas Airport

A little outside of the main strip area is Las Vegas North Airport. This is a very different place to McCarren. There are no big terminals, no large rental car places, and no Jumbo Jets taking off and landing every five minutes. The place is in fact eerily quiet most of the time.

This makes it a fantastic place for air operations such as Helicopter tours, Private Jets, and Light Aircraft. We recently booked our own light Aircraft from here and flew ourselves over the Grand Canyon!

Don’t expect the glitz and glamour of the large terminals the McCarran operators fly out of, instead, everything is low-key and a little more relaxed, they also tend to use older helicopters, but this is not always a bad thing (the Robison 44 is an incredible aircraft!)

These tours tend to be a little more personal and a little longer in duration, mainly as you need to get to and from the strip,

5 Star Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours

Flying the older AS350 A-Star Helicopters 5 Star Helicopters offer some of the cheapest tours in Las Vegas. The A-Star is a fantastic helicopter and is a real workhorse with billions of safe flying hours the world over, We would not hesitate for a second to board one, the truth is it is not as good a touring helicopter as the newer more expensive Eco-Star (EC-150). The only issue is the seating is more cramped and basic and the windows are smaller providing less panoramic views than the Eco-Star.

This is the trade-off for lower prices. We also find 5 Stars tours to be a little longer and take their time a bit more with less of a “pack-em-in” feel.

The whole operation has a slightly more budget feel to it, but we find this leads to a more personal and friendly approach, far less corporate than the big Players at McCarran.

On the whole, the offering is very similar to the big players, just a little cheaper, and rougher around the edges. But when you are soaring over the GC are you really going to notice how big the windows are?

5 Star also fly out of Boulder so make sure you know where you are flying from, Boulder is a fair drive from Vegas

Skyline Helicopter Tours

Skyline is a completely different operation from the rest. For a start, they operate Robinson R44 Helicopters. These are lightweight 4-seat aircraft (meaning everyone gets a window seat) that generally Fly lower and slower than the bigger turbojet aircraft.

They only really offer Strip tours or Red Rack Canyon tours as the GC is a pretty long flight for these smaller aircraft and the incredibly high fees the Reservation charge make it unfeasible.

With only 3 seats you are usually on your own or can ensure a private flight for only $35. They also offer Doors off flights which are one hell of a rush.

We recently flew with Skyline and they are a really nice company to fly with and their doors-off tour is incredible!

702 Helicopters

702 Helicopters is a similar operation to Skyline, offering tours in the 4-seat R44 Helicopters. Their website and operation are quite basic but the tours are fun and inexpensive.

FlyNYON is one of our favorite operators in North America. Their New York Doors off Tours are like nothing on earth. For the last few years, they operated Las Vegas/ Red Rock Canyon Tours but have ceased operation in the area. We will keep an eye out for their return as Covid restrictions lift and bring you more details

Safety

Helicopter tours get a bad rep in some internet travel forums and message boards. The truth is there have been crashes during some Tourist helicopter operations, and some during Las Vegas and Grand Canyon tours.

Flight operations of this nature do carry an inherent risk. We wish we could say they didn’t but the truth is a lot can go wrong and when it does the results can be disastrous.

However, the safety procedures, maintenance, and precautions put in place by the FAA and the Aircraft operators mitigate nearly every possible scenario. The chances of being involved in an accident while taking a Las Vegas Helicopter tour are infinitely slim, you are far more likely to hit a jackpot in the casino and we all know that isn’t going to happen. These operators fly hundreds of tours every day the vast majority without incident, it’s just those one-in-a-million events that attract a lot of headlines!

Fear Of Flying

Despite the amazing safety precautions and records of the operators, some people are just scared of flying. Some people are scared of heights and some are only scared of flying in small aircraft, which they often don’t know until they get to the chopper door. All the reasoning in the world will not help. These Phobias are often irrational but very real to the sufferer. You can tell someone scared of spiders, that they can’t hurt them but that does not make them any less scary.

For people with a fear of heights, Helicopters are usually fine. Height is a strange thing but to feel the fear of falling you usually have to be stood on something solid. It is strange how being in an aircraft just doesn’t affect the brain the same as being on a tall building.

If you have a real fear of flying, then this is less perception-based and more a fear of knowing what you are doing. The stress and anxiety this causes will likely make a flight very un-enjoyable.

The Helicopter Platform is actually one of the least fear-provoking methods of air travel. The aircraft’s ability to hover negates the need for the runway wind-up, this makes many nervous as the perception of speed is very real. With the helicopter ascending nearly vertically into the sky, it feels more like a floating platform than flying, it’s not certain but some who are scared of flying can be fine on a helicopter.

If you are one of those who doesn’t know your fear until you hit the door, then you have to rely on the goodwill of the companies. They will not force you into the air as a scared person on the ground getting a refund is better than a full-blown panic attack in the air.

Essentially we find unless you know you have a severe phobia of flying or are generally a very nervous person who is not keen on new experiences we think fears should not stop most people. Not overthinking things is key, focus on the jaw-dropping sights you are being rewarded with and try and forget the mechanics of what is going on. Trust in your supremely trained piolet and the incredible levels of precautions the flight operators take.

What is the Go City Las Vegas Explorer Pass?

The Go City Las Vegas Explorer Pass is an Attraction Pass from Go City, the top provider of attraction passes in the States. The Basic concept is you choose how many attractions from a list of 38+ that you would like to visit. Then when in Vegas simply use the pass to visit the attractions. The upside of this is the overall price of the Pass is considerably less than the price you would need to pay should you visit the same attractions individually paying at the gate.

The big thing to bear in mind with the Explorer pass is some of the attractions are on the cheaper end and choosing these could result in quite modest savings (it could even end up costing MORE!), whereas choosing the more expensive options will vastly increase your savings, but this is only sensible if the expensive options are the attractions you want to experience. As such a little forethought and calculation are needed to see if the pass works out as a good value for you. We will run through some examples later.

What is the Go City Las Vegas Pass All-Inclusive?

Another option instead of the Explorer Pass is the Go City Las Vegas Pass All-Inclusive. This is a more expensive option but gives the user the option of all-inclusive attractions for a number of days, Along with some pretty special Premium Attractions such as helicopter rides or a grand canyon excursion! How Long is the Pass Valid for?

due to the increased uncertainty around travel at the moment, Go-City has increased the Validity period of the Passes from one year to two. This is great news if you have a pass and your trip is canceled for one reason or another.

For most people, if their trip to Vegas is canceled they are still going to want to return in the near future, so the 2-year expiry date adds a lot to the peace of mind!

Additionally, there is a 90-day-no-Quibble refund policy. So if you buy your pass within 90 days of your trip, you can grab a refund with no problem should your trip not go ahead! This makes things pretty much risk-free.

How does the Go City Las Vegas Explorer Pass Work?

The Las Vegas Explorer Pass is a digital pass. It is emailed to you after ordering and you then either use the pass directly from your phone or you can print it out and use it that way. Either way, it’s is a QR Barcode that is scanned at the attractions allowing you entry to the attractions.

Every Time you scan your Pass one attraction is deducted from the amount you purchased until you have used all your attractions. You do not need to choose beforehand which attractions you wish to do. Unless it is an attraction that requires pre-booking in which case you will need to make a reservation.

Check the details of each attraction carefully to see if you need to pre-book. We have handily marked any attractions that require pre-booking.

Is the Pass Right for Me?

If you are thinking all I want to do is check out the casinos, and hit the pools, then an Attraction pass is probably not the best idea for you. Likewise, if you are looking at the list of attractions and thinking “I can ONLY pick 7” then you may want to consider an unlimited card like the Las Vegas Go Card.

This pass is mainly suited to people who just want to do a few attractions at their convenience while enjoying their trip in other ways. Like sitting by the pool, gambling, eating, etc…

How do We Test?

We see some reviews for these passes where people have only looked at the passes and done the Math, this often misses the reality of using a Pass, and we make sure we hit the Cities in question and use the passes regularly, this highlights us the niggles and impracticalities of the pass to show you exactly how the passes work in practice.

The Go City Las Vegas Explorer Pass in Practice

Overall the pass works pretty much flawlessly in Vegas. The main thing to remember is many of the attractions require pre-booking. This makes sense as they are mainly the tours, and attractions that you would usually book beforehand anyway. One issue with this is some of the attractions that do require booking charge you a fee if you fail to turn up without canceling. This is because they have reserved you a space and will not get paid if you simply do not show up. So always cancel if you can’t make a booking for whatever reason.

Some show only allow you to reserve tickets on the day, which means you have to be pretty organized and remember to visit the box office on the morning of the show. This level of organization can be difficult in Vegas! You also need to remember not many shows are running every night of the week so check the calendars to make sure there will be a performance on the night you want to visit!

Same with the Club and pool Tours these often get canceled on weekdays as there are not enough participants and clubs open to justify the Tour, plan for these to be on weekend nights or have a backup!

For the vast majority of attractions, the Pass just worked perfectly. Simply turn up, scan the pass and you are in. These are really popular products and the host will know exactly what to do. We use the App based QR code 90% of the time, but it pays to have a paper backup copy as Technology has a real habit of going wrong, right when you don’t want it to!

TIP – Take a Screen Shot of each QR code, that way if the app breaks (sometimes it tries to update at inopportune moments) you still have a copy of the QR to scan!

Is the Las Vegas Explorer Pass Worth it?

Really this is a hard question to answer. The highest value Attraction is $99 and the lowest value is $12 so there is a large variety of value potential. Used wisely there is little doubt the pass WILL save you a ton of money but used badly it can cost more than simply buying on the gate! Let’s take a closer look…

As an example, we will use a 5-attraction pass as the middle-of-the-road option. Which costs $119.

That’s a pretty incredible saving and an itinerary that is easily possible even over a long weekend. It is by far the best line-up in terms of pure money-saving so shows just how easy huge savings are on the Pass.

We consider that a very realistic itinerary it’s not just all the most expensive options, but ones most people would like to visit. There is potential to save even more than this!

However, Compare this to the next itinerary.

Yep, that’s right with that Itinerary it would actually COST you money. Again that isn’t even the worst itinerary available. This highlights how much care must be taken when choosing your Attractions.

The best way of looking at it is the COST PER ATTRACTION Price:

• 2 Choices – Adult – $60 – COST PER ATTRACTION = $30 Per Choice
• 3 Choices – Adult – $80 – COST PER ATTRACTION = $26.66 Per Choice
• 4 Choices – Adult – $111 – COST PER ATTRACTION = $27.75 Per Choice
• 5 Choices – Adult – $121 – COST PER ATTRACTION = $24.20 Per Choice
• 6 Choices – Adult – $131 – COST PER ATTRACTION = $21.80 Per Choice
• 7 Choices – Adult – $141 – COST PER ATTRACTION = $20.15 Per Choice

If the Cost of the Attraction you want to do is LESS than the Cost per Attraction, such as Las Vegas Natural History Museum at $12 then avoid it. It would be better to pay for this separately in most cases. If it is more, such as the Hoover Dam Tour $55, you are on to a winner. However, sometimes adding Attractions that are Lower than the Cost Per Day Price can still save money. Take a look below, this is a 7 Attraction Pass, it’s the Same as the Itinerary one only we added two Attractions both only worth $18/$20 Each. Remember the Per Attractions Price for the 7 Attraction pass is $21 a day so this should cost money…

In Actual Fact, this saves us even more! The Upgrade from 5-7 attractions Pass is $20 whereas if we had bought the two extra attractions separately then the cost would have been $38. So we are saving an extra $18 by using the Pass. This is because the fall Per attraction price is spread out across all the attractions so by buying more attractions you are saving more on every attraction.

This highlights the importance of working out which attractions you are likely to use and seeing if the overall cost is less than the cost of buying individually!

It is also worth pointing out again the importance of only choosing the attractions you really want to do. Not just chasing value by doing things because they are high value. That is a real false economy.

There is also the issue that in Vegas almost everything can be had for a discount. Shopping around and getting the best offers means you rarely have to pay the “gate” price. So the Savings in the examples are probably exaggerated. However, the Las Vegas Explorer Pass does guarantee large savings with very little effort and shopping around. To achieve this level of saving would require considerable effort in shopping around.

Overall, we feel that if the attractions that take your fancy are all the higher $ value items, $25 and over, then the card offers excellent value without any of the hassles of having to shop around for individual discounted attractions and having to carry multiple tickets, etc…

Let’s take a more in-depth look at what attractions are available, there are far too many to go into individually so these are just some of our favorite higher-value attractions:

Vegas Rockstar Club Tour – Pre-Book – $99

A fantastic night on the tiles. After pre-drinks, you are chauffeured around in a party bus to some of the best nightclubs in the world, let alone Vegas. This really is one for the party animals, and it’s sure to be a wild night. Great if you don’t really know where you want to go as you will visit a few different clubs. Also, you will likely be in a group so if you are alone or a couple or small group you should hopefully pick up a few new friends! This includes booze on the Party bus but not in the clubs, and be warned they are not cheap!

Hoover Dam Tour – Pre-Book – $55

The Hoover Dam is a must-see in Vegas and it’s well worth visiting. The Dam is a Staggering feat of Engineering and holds back the majestic Blue waters of Lake Mead. This half-day tour gives you round-trip transportation from the Strip and takes in the Visitors Centre as well as the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge and the Boulder Dam Museum in Boulder City.

The Dam is one of the most accessible tours from Vegas and only eats half a day whereas other longer tours, such as the Grand Canyon, take 12-18 hours as you head much further away from Vegas.

High Roller Observation Wheel – Daytime Ticket – $30.75

The High roller is really a fantastic attraction and something everyone should do in Vegas. The Views from one of the tallest Observation wheels in the world really blow the mind. As well as the amazing aerial views of the top Las VEhas Hotels, Casinos, and landmarks the wheel offers stunning views out across the Las Vegas Valley with the Spring Mountains in the distance.

Look down on the Flamingo, Caesar’s Palace, The Bellagio, Paris, and more. The 30-minute ride literally flies by and you are off to explore the Linq promenade. The Photo ops are amazing but remember to wear dark clothing to try and help minimize reflections.

Our favorite option of the Open bar is not available due to social distancing and the Pass only offers a Day Ride. Nighttime is even better, however, you can pay the difference to get a nighttime ride or upgrade to the Open Bar!

Big Bus Tour, Hop on Hop Off – $53.00

We know it is incredibly touristy, but we really do enjoy these tours, STILL! There is something just childishly fun about riding around a big City on an open-top bus. The tours are just that, do not plan on using them as transport as they are hopelessly slow and infrequent. But as a way to see the City and link up a few attractions they are great fun.

The Mob Museum – $29.95 – Open

One of the Best Museums in Las Vegas the Mob Museum is anything but the Stuffy boring Museum found in most cities. Here the story of the Mob is told, how organized Crime ran America and how the FBI finally got a handle and brought the perpetrators to justice.

The Museum features interactive exhibits telling the story in a fun way that feels perfect for Vegas, especially seeing as a lot of the City was built on Mob Money. Make this part of your visit to Downtown and experience what America was like under the boot of the Mob

Madame Tussaud’s – $36.99

We are not always fans of the Tussauds Wax Work Museums. We love the original, in London, but find others just too tourist trap-like. The Vegas addition holds a pretty special place in our hearts. It really hits the tone of the city right and feels very young and fun. We especially appreciate the Hangover Sets and Models which feel particularly relevant.

Conclusion

Used correctly the Explorer pass is a good way to save a good amount of money on your Vegas attractions. However, if you choose poorly you could end up paying more than you needed to! Personally, we prefer the All-inclusive Las Vegas Go Card. It really unlocks the City in a way the Explorer doesn’t quite manage, as you try to be careful in which attractions to Choose.

However, if you are just looking to do a few attractions to supplement your time in the casinos, hitting the pool, and generally just exploring the City the Explorer pass is a very attractive option. You get to see exactly what you choose and still save a packet

While the all-Inclusive passes require you to pack the attractions in, the Explorer pass allows for a more sedate trip. While for a lot of locations we find this approach better, Vegas is a pretty crazy place and we like the madness! But it’s not for everyone and if you want Lazy days by the pool supplemented by a few of the Top attractions in Vegas then we highly rate the Explorer Pass.
